A group of us recently visited the winery as part of our stay at the Hyatt Chesapeake Resort (about a 20 minute drive from the hotel), and we really enjoyed the tour and tasting. Due to the freezing cold temperatures the day of our visit, we toured from inside the building. Our guide was very knowledgeable and interesting...heard about the family owned business, their operations, saw the tanks, heard about their successes and challenges, etc. The tasting was great...and included quite a bit. We each sampled a flight of 4 or 5 different wines, sampled one of their wine slushy drinks, and enjoyed a full class of our choice....in addition to a cheese and cracker plate and some other snacks. I liked the fact that all of their bottle labels feature an image specific to the farm, the family, etc. It's really a nice operation.Nice little retail shop too - - and, of course we purchased a few bottles before we left. I recommend visiting and enjoying an afternoon there.
We are so glad to hear you sister's birthday party was a success! We customize our events to meet all of your party needs. Hope to see you again soon!
Thanks for visiting us again and writing a review! We are pleased to hear you find something for everyone in your party at Layton's Chance. Next time you visit, please plan to take one of our tours. We hold them daily from 1-3pm. See you soon!
Thank you for coming in. We are so glad you enjoyed the tour and found wine to take home. We strive to improve our business, is there anything specific you can tell us about what was missing from the wine descriptions? We look forward to seeing you again soon!
Thank you for taking the time to review our winery. We are glad you enjoyed the atmosphere. We strive to improve our wines with each harvest. We hope you will stop back again sometime.
On a whim, my wife and I decided to go wine tasting one Sunday. We chose this place because of it's location along our route to the beach. It is right off of Rt. 50 and very easy to get to. The winery was amazing - great views, with a quiet, country atmosphere. The wines were pretty good too - we prefer sweeter wines and they did not dissapoint. The slushies were fantastic and we purchased several bottles to take home. They also have a great room which is perfect for bridal parties, baby showers, birthday parties, and so on. They do not provide food, but are more than willing to assist you with a caterer. It seemed that if you wanted them to - they could arrange for most of the extras for a small upcharge - which is well worth it, if you are not familiar with local providers. There is a small tasting fee and a discount on a case of 12 or more. The staff was extremely friendly and fun.
The grounds are beautiful to wander through. The staff was knowledgeable about their product but I didn't enjoy the wine.
I visited the winery as the last stop on a day trip to the Eastern Shore with a group of friends, and it was a delightful experience. We started with an informative tour of the winery, then had a wine tasting. They have a nice variety so it wasn't hard to find some to purchase and take home. The atmosphere was very lovely and relaxing, and the staff was really friendly and helpful. It was such an enjoyable time, and I hope to do it again.
My wife and I had the pleasure of visiting Layton's on Mother's Day and it was a treat to say the least. Beautiful farm setting and grounds. Really nice tasting room and store combo, excellent wines and our favorite the slushies', which were fantastic. We took our slushies' out on the "porch" around the tasting room, pulled up two chairs and just relaxed. There was a little breeze blowing, it was so peaceful and it just seemed "close to heaven". If your touring wineries on the eastern shore, this is a must. May I also add the staff and owners, very friendly and welcoming.
Husband and I visited for his Birthday... we were greeted by Jennifer who also did our Tasting. The premium tasting was WELL WORTH IT. And the slushies... O.M.G! Thanks so much guys for opening up your beautiful farm and for making some really great wines! We'll see you again, soon!
Had been wanting to visit and it was worth the trip. Employees were very helpful and we enjoyed the wine tasting. Really like the Joe's Cool White. Missed the tour but were allowed to go into vineyard so my husband could take pictures. Beautiful country setting.
We dropped in on a whim after a weekend trip to Chincoteague. I'm glad we did. The weather was nice and winery were nice. The owners were very friendly. We missed the tour but wouldn't mind checking it out when we return. We enjoyed the Joe Cool's Red and White and Lazy Day White. I even enjoyed the wine slushie. I can see myself sitting out on my deck on a warm evening with my girl friends drinking it and having a great time.
Truly one of the most beautiful wineries I've visited! It's a very serene and pastoral setting, showing their crop farming roots. The tasting room is comfortable and stunning. We had a Living Social deal, which came with a platter of tasty cheeses from a local creamery. What a nice bonus that was! The tasting room is also a gift shop with clever, locally produced products. The wine soap was terribly tempting! Oh, and the place is emaculate! Nice, clean bathrooms, even offering touch-up toiletries such as hair spray, lotion etc.The grounds are beautiful. The winemaker conducted our tour and we were fortunate enough to be there on one of their rare bottling days. That was definitely cool! As you walk the grounds you can totally picture an event here. We hope to return for one if their concerts on the lawn this season. Oh, did I mention that the wine is delicious? It is! We all loved the watermelon wine and the happy accident that became Joe's Cool Red Turbo with 18% alcohol!
Went with a group of friends for a wine tasting and had an amazing time! Owner joined us in drinking and stories. Wine is very good. Enjoyed the Lazy Day White, Joe's Cool Red, and the Traminette. Make sure you eat some chocolate rocks. Definitely scheduling a return visit!
Some good wines available and you can have a nice lite lunch while you sample the wine. It is only a short detour off of the hwy 50 path to ocean city.
