Visit the Dolphinarium for close interaction with dolphins, and were nicely rewarded. Interesting program, and very well managed place. Kids had so much fun
Fantastic trip, swam with dolphins, catamaran trip to see sun setting in nearby bay, meal back in the colonialism.Fantastic day.
This was a fairly expensive trip and we probably wouldn't have gone on it if we hadn't read the excellent reviews. My advice is don't miss it, this is a fabulous trip and is very good value. We enjoyed every minute from start to finish. Our tour guide Rita was adorable, she added to the fun of the day and took loads of pictures for us on our iPad - we tipped her 5 cuc's but having seen how many pictures she took gave her a further 5, this trip was the highlight of our holiday and we will remember it forever :-)
Interesting experience , but I was sorry for the dolphins being captive . Swimming with them was an unforgettable experience too, not keen on deep water even with a life jacket on , so I was a bit nervous to say the least.
good value - you are allowed to take your own photos. Try and book the tour that includes the catamaran trip and dinner.
The dolphins and Sea Lion's looked healthy and happy in there surroundings. You must swim with the dolphins,it was an amazing experience.I enjoyed both the sea lion and dolphin shows. The food was not very hot in the restaurant.
We did this trip as a part of a larger excursion with thomas cook.Although ive always wanted to do a swim with dolphins i had some moral doubts beforehand about captured dolphins. However the enclosure is very large and is essentially a sectioned off part of the sea so it seems fairly natural for an enclosure- the dolphins appeared to be in good condition. We had 2 dolphins for around 12 of us, and had about 30 mins in the water, we each got kisses, and got to stroke the dolphin etc- then went forward as couples for photographs with the dolphins. You can buy a high quality printed photograph for 10 cuc, and also have the dolphins launch you into the air for 10 cuc.We then had a dolphin show, and they were amazing and the trainers seemed to genuinely care for the dolphins. All in all, i still have mixed thoughts about dolphinariums in general but this was a fantastic experience and the operation is well run (no tiny pools here as i have read is the case elsewhere)
Decided to go here to swim with dolphins and it was excellent! We watched a sea lion show before going to swim with the dolphins. Good amount of time swimming with the dolphins. ....only downside was that you had abit of time to hang about while people who payed to do tricks with the dolphins were in the water-annoying part was watching the people not listening to the trainer so it took longer than anticipated. I was chosen to be part of the dolphin show which was a bonus!! Unforgettable experience! A lovely lobster meal followed and a show of African dancers finished our trip. Would recommend! !
We have done this trip twice and loved every minute the first time I took part in the show and my husband took part in the show the second time you sooo must visit here and if you stay at sol Rio luna y mares you see the dolphinarium from apartment 2041 and you see emerald bay from your balcony
Staff were friendly and fun, costs were all up front. The show and time with the dolphins was much better than the dolphin excursion we did while staying in Varadaro three years ago.
A dream come true! Swimming with dolphins was definitely at the top of my bucket list and it did not fail to disappoint! Beautiful animals and a beautiful day! A must do if you are in Cuba in my opinion!
We booked 'Dine with the Dolphins' tour with Thomas Cook, which took us to this Dolphinarium. It is very well kept. I loved that it is in natural sea water rather than a pool type dolphinarium. It did look very nice. Our tour package included return transfers, swimming with dolphins, sea lion show, dolphin show, catamaran cruise and lobster dinner. Unfortunately, we didn't see the sea lion show, because one of the sea lions was ill, but to compensate us for that, we got extra 10min to swim with the dolphins, which was in total about 40min. Life jackets are mandatory, which is great, if you can't swim, but still want to swim with the dolphins. Loved the fact that the groups were fairly small, only 5-6 people per dolphin, which gave us plenty of time to enjoy these lovely creatures.Make sure to bring enough money with you, if you are planning to purchase some tricks with dolphins, pictures or a video. Each trick costs 10 CUC, but is money well spend!!! Definetely recommend doing at least 2 of them. Underwater cameras are not allowed, which was slightly disappointing, but if you will give your camera to the guide or photographer, he will happilly take some pictures for a tip. Printed pictures taken with a professional camera will cost 10 CUC each, and a video is 30 CUC. We wanted to purchase a video and we knew that in advance, but were highly disappointed to find out the hard way that you have to make your photo arrangements before you start swimming with the dolphins!!!!!! Otherwise, you will walk out empty handed, professional photos are not going to be taken as well, unless you ask specifically. Dolphin show was very average, catamaran cruise was wonderful with an open bar and a beautiful sunset to watch and the lobster dinner - highly disappointing, the lobster was very dry, chewy and didn't have any flavor, it put me of trying lobster again for a while. All in all, I definitely recommend to go there and swim with the dolphins, perhaps just book another tour (we had a choice of 3) that didn't include lobster dinner, which was a little bit cheaper as well.
I don't know how to swim but I always want to go for a swim with dolphins. My friend promised to hang on to me because I am not comfortable with life jacket. We booked one with catamaran trip, snorkeling (which of course we didn't participate), lobster lunch and swimming with the dolphins for 20 minutes. The staff was willing to take pictures even though there was a professional photographer on site. My complain is that the life jackets they gave us didn't stay well. For one thing, all the straps do not have buckles. They had to tie the straps, but both the top straps came undone while both of us in the water. I had a few pictures where a dolphin behind me trying to give me kisses but I can't see my face on the photos because the life jacket popped up and covering my face. And yes, the whole time I was in the water, I had to pull the life jacket down to prevent it for popping up while my other hand was used to hang on to my friend. The staffs on catamaran were very friendly and we had some games during that time. Drinks and snacks provided on board. This is definitely the hightlight of my trip.
Great fun. Definitely pay the extra to do the lifts, fin swims etc as they make the trip. Dolphins were amazing.
This is a must do excursion. Book the all day and get some snorkeling in as well. Order the lobster for lunch and enjoy the fun on the catamaran. The guides are so much fun!!
