This place is very nice, it's located in a cultural centre. It's not very big, but that's good because it makes the atmosphere more cozy. There are cuban music all day and at night is possible to dance with almost professional dancers. There's no food, but drinks are good, fair price. A great place to listen to music and dance in Trinidad, not crowded.

This place is a little bit quieter and calmer than Casa de la Musica down the road, seats and tables are easier to find, and if you are an older traveller, perhaps this place is more for you, especially if you don't dance. For a 1CUC entry, you can enjoy traditional live Cuban music here most nights. If you can dance, the floor here is much nicer to dance on than the Casa de la Musica (where you have to dance on cobbles), because there is actually a floor! You do feel quite self-conscious though, as most of the tourists here (it is not a place that locals go on their own, other than to pick up a tourist) will be sitting down, having a drink and sitting around watching the "dance area" next to the band.It should be added that pretty much any bar / restaurant in the centre of Trinidad are likely to have live music at some point in the evening, so if you just want to listen to music as a background (as opposed to dancing), then perhaps you could just sit at any bar. Having said that, the atmosphere here is quite cute, so if you're in Trinidad for a few days, you should pop in once.

The place is popular for turists, so the place is crowded of them. But the music is nice, and the building as well. Cheap entrance. Go try you salsa moves for an hour or two, and then continue to one of the other clubs.

This is a great spot with reasonably priced drinks and great music. There are travellers and locals alike and everybody is extremely friendly. Everyone gets on the dance floor. Nobody cares if you can't salsa etc. properly they are just happy that you are there and enjoying their culture.

If you want to experience real Cuban music, look no further. This is probably the best and most charming place to listen to Cuban music in Trinidad. This cafe/bar is set in a beautiful restored colonial mansion in the city center, just 100 metres to the Plaza Mayor, and music is played in their lush green patio. There is a cover charge of 1 CUC and mojitos and piñas coladas are sold for a reasonable 3 CUC.Music is played from around 8 pm to 12 pm or 1 am and every half an hour a new group is invited to join the stage. There is also a dancing area for the brave...Summing up, a quite nice place to drink while listening to real Cuban music and hanging out with locals...

Quite infectious - something special about the music here. Did though prefer watching others od the salsa than doing it ourselves.

If you want to experience salsa in Cuba, look no further! The music is really nice, you will be asked to dance (even if you can't - they will teach you!) and the people are great! We went there 2 nights in a row and were really sad to leave Trinidad, as we would have loved to go again! The local crowd treated us as their friends and taught us how to dance (not just the girls, by the way! guys get some tips too, if they're interested of course). It was a very relaxed atmosphere, all about good music and dancing salsa.Everlasting memories...

An excellent cafe/bar with a live band where all the locals go in the evening to dance. It is quite a spectacle and fun to join in though I probably needed some lessons but the locals pretended not to notice. The place was packed, noisy and full of cuban life. Well worth a visit.

This is a good place to spend your night in Trinidad. You will enjoy the music, as well as watching people dance. It is located in an colonial house in Trinidad, and you will seat in a small patio, under the sky. Not a high end place, but you are in Cuba, you are looking to have a good time. The bar, certainly not the best one...

Excellent Cuban music, small dance area, packed tables. A succession of musicians - one cloth capped tenor with his guitar was exceptionally good. Small admission charge (1 CUC I think).

This bar is worth going to for the music and dancing and is one of the livelier places. It is just off the main square and doesn't look like much of a bar from the outside but when you walk through the shop there is a pleasant courtyard which provides shade at any time of the day. There was no beer when we went but the mojitos were good.

Wonderful atmosphere in small bar. Good music. Feel free to join in the dancing in response.. Friendly people.

We had a great couple of hours here mixing with mainly Cuban people, there was non-stop music from local bands with great dancing.A lively, enjoyable, authentic experience amongst friendly folk, but do get there early-ish if you want a table as it does get very busy.

This is a must go place - sensational, non-stop music with excellent dancers and lots and lots of people. Very loud and very crowded, but what a place! There is no pressure to buy the CDs of the bands playing (as suggested elsewhere) and you do need to pay to use the toilets (as you do in lots of places in Cuba, and elsewhere) but that's quickly forgotten and you get caught up in the rhythm of the place

Over our trip in Cuba this was by far the best Casa de la Trova. Agree with other reviews that the area is small but there was always a (tiny)space to dance. And the more you move the more room you gain! We had fun dancing with the locals, one of whom was very kind and patient in teaching me some basic salsa. The bands were good; the music was a mix of salsa, son and Cuban and all very lively. It was great to watch some very competent couples dancing too. Prices for drinks good. Cds are offered but if you don't want one just give a small tip for the band. We did actually buy one and having played it today was relieved to hear it was good and brought back happy memories. This Casa is in the centre. It costs 1 CUC entry fee. It is also worth going on to the church area where the party goes on in the street!
