crazy horse ranch

We paid $70 for the 2 of us to take this 2 hour excursion. When we stopped in the poverty stricken town, we felt obligated to buy goods from their store. Then at the end of the trip, we were asked to give a tip, pressured into buying a photo, and pressured into buying a bottle of wine to help the local school. All this just to ride a horse and get a bruised butt and legs. The cave we saw on the excusion was pretty lame and we were not given any food. We did get a bottle of water. The bathroom in the town did not have electric or running water. It was quite sad to see, but not exactly what I would consider to be a fun excursion.

I love horses so I naturally enjoyed it, however the horses need some improvement. They take you around town, we enjoyed some great Dominican food at a local place rather than going shopping, but you have the option. It is a great trip to see more of DR, it is an opportunity to see and value how fortunate we are.

Our guide was very nice but he had very limited understanding of English. We tried to ask him questions about the area and people and he couldn't understand what we were asking. The excursion was almost exactly 2 hours from pick up time to drop off time for $35. After the ride, they sat us down and asked us to by a bottle of vino (he said non alcoholic) with our picture on it for $20. We weren't interested and felt very uncomfortable after we said no. Basically all we did was ride up and down some streets and then went into a cave. We were very disappointed, we would have loved to have been able to more fully understand the people that lived in the area.
