The marina part of town. Good to go and walk around and see where the money is - the big boats. Quite a change from the Carenage where the fishermen come in. All beautiful just in a different way.

The lagoon and surroundings have had a complete make over, thanks to Peter deSavry. It is still a work in progress. There is a wonderful bakery in Port Louie. The owners bar-b-que every Friday for lunch. Wonderful buns they have made for the burgers. You add all the fixings and sit outside. Delicious. Port Louie has a nice restaurant also. Good sandwiches and soup. They have several shops. The upscale "Penny's". Lovely clothes and gifts. "Fidel's " more local retail and handmade jewelry. Marina that includes showers and a pool. A lovely day spa. There's a market, small restaurants and bars and shopping all along Lagoon Road. Interesting area with lots of potential.

Until recently, the Lagoon was a muddy swamp filled with wrecked boats that were destroyed in Hurricanes Ivan and Emily. The development of the adjacent marina by Peter de Savoury has led to the Lagoon being cleaned out, the wrecks removed and decent jetties being built. It is now a colourfull and attractive location although there are still a few bits to tidy up.

We spent many days walking from where we were staying at the Carribbean Cottages into town and around the lagoon. We also went out with the Carib Cats, Dennis and Maurice so we got to experience the lagoon from the water also. You have a wonderful area there.

I stayed at St. Anns guesthouse in this area and enjoyd it. Located right between Grand Anse and St Georges. catching a bus was really easy, but there wasn't much going on here at night.

Die Lagoon ist der Yachthafen von St. Georges und für einen Spaziergang entlang des Ufers ganz schön.
