We initially found the museum hard to find as the parking is on the opposite side of the block to the museum. The displays can be shabby but overall the is an interesting visit where some history is learned. N.B. If you walk from the Cruise Terminal go through the Sendall tunnel, a mini adventure in itself and then past the parking and keep left to the corner of the building.
Fairly small museum and be warned that it can be hot and stuffy inside. However, still worth a visit with some excellent displays.
We cruised to GrenadaA whole day we stayed here. One cannot deny this place is really gorgeous.Pedestrians and traffic funnelThrough the narrow Sendall tunnel‘Neath the town and fort (both called St. Georges). The alternative route’s a hillWhich is hard for wheelchairs, stillThrough the tunnel, they drive with more care.A sudden tropical rain showerOf unexpected powerWe went to the museum and dried out there. We were pestered to buy spiceWhich I’m sure is very niceBut didn’t need the smell to fill our cabin.Took the water taxi to the beachWhich for us is hard to reachOur boat ran out of fuel, was towed back in.Some adventure and excitement With a lot of enlightenment. We enjoyed our day spent upon this island.Everyone was very helpfulAnd the people never dull. The museum? not much there but I'm a fan.
Lovely(but small) museum with some very interesting artefacts, displays and information especially on the political situations.A slight shame it is so small.
This is a little gem and is just being modernised a bit which will help. Interesting potted history of the Island from pre-historic to now. go and support them, it won't take long but you will be charmed
This is a quirky little museum with a small admission charge. There are interesting local historical artifacts and a large area upstairs devoted to the wreck of the Bianco C.Worth a visit
Lots to read, not masses of artefacts to see. Some of the displays were a little tired. iIt was very hot and humid when we visited and it made the visit quite uncomfortable so we did not get the best out of it.
A pretty eclectic mix of stuff from pre-history through to more modern times, but Liz tells a fascinating story as you wander through small rooms stuffed with artefacts, pictures and displays. Before going, we knew very little of Grenada's background (to be honest, nothing!) so this hour-or-so visit was a revelation. Lots of interesting insights to the culture of the island and how it has got where it is today. Thank you Liz
This historical experience very informative. However it would have been better in cooler surroundings.
Like the curate's egg this is good in parts. The history of slave trading is excellent but post-independence politics less so. The taxidermy specimens need to be replaced.
My wife and I stepped in this little museum while on our way from the Carenage to the markets on Halifax Street. The entrance price is minimal, and the museum seems to be run by several elderly locals. One of the locals was fast asleep on a bench during our entire visit. It needs a complete overhaul. It is old, dusty and not terribly interesting. Most of the exhibits focus on the Arawak/Carib cultures and slavery, with two small exhibits on Independence and the American invasion of 1983. Surely there is a lot more to Grenadian history than slavery and native peoples? There should be a joint venture between the local government and St. George's University to update what is here. This island and its people deserve so much better.
Worth a visit even if it's just to show support. There is a lot of potential here but the display is basic and the museum would benefit from some serious museum consultancy.
Nice little museum to acquaint you to the history and culture of Grenada. Displays from Sailing through to the revolution and invasion as well as a "titanic' like ship sinking which occurred in the harbor. Very informative.
Small compact and loaded with artifacts. Spread across two shops and very informative. Though not fancy (it doesn't need to be), Well worth the visit.
What a little gem! Make sure you see all the rooms on the ground and second floor. Some very interesting historical information regarding Grenada. I enjoyed my visit.
