Playa Buye is my most favorite beach in the world. It is secluded, cozy, and a great place to grab a book, read, and just watch time go by. It a must do and see if you are on the West Coast of Cabo Rojo. If you don't like crowds, I would avoid it during the weekends in the summer months since locals love this beach as much as tourists do. I was born and raised in Cabo Rojo, but the Island many years ago. The beach is free, but the parking lot in front of the beach is private so you must pay a nominal fee of $3.00. You could also park on the road, but it is a bit risky if you are in a rental car. Once you reach the beach, walk past the condo on your right. Go about 1/3 of a mile. Find shade the sun it is really punishing in Puerto Rico all year long.

A little hard to find, but so worth it. Sandy beach. Clean. Really mellow waves and pretty shallow sandy-bottomed swimming area. Great for families. Just gorgeous!

Unfortunately we went in a week that was raining a lot and the ocean was not calm in any of the beaches we went. The water was also very sandy/muddy due to the amount of waves; you couldn't even see your hands in front of you under water. This beach is frequented by locals and it can get busy during the weekend. However, we didn't care too much to walk far away from the area close to the parking lot. I'm guessing this is where a lot of people that reviewed this beach found the hidden beach gem. To us this was an OK beach, nice enough to swim and relax in the sand. Next time we come, we'll make sure we hike a bit to see if we can find a better piece of beach. It does have a small cafeteria that sells your regular fried foods, snacks, and cold refreshments. So if you are not on a diet (or in vacation mode like we were) then you can bring some snacks to save some money and if you get too hungry, you always have the option to buy something. I believe they do have some bathrooms, but I wasn't sure if the parking attendant was charging people to use it. We didn't need one so I can't really be sure. Parking was cheap, I think it was about 3 dollars, or you can park outside the parking lot if you can find a spot.Overall, we went and stayed for about two hours, and then left to drive up to Rincon. Like I said, I'm basing my review on the fact that we stayed in the area closed to the parking lot and that it was raining the whole week, and in the day we went. So I would recommend people to go if they are around the area and check it out for themselves.

This is the most beautiful beach we visited in a week of swimming in the Cabo Rojo area. It's isolated, so don't expect to drive on a 4-lane highway onto a paved parking lot. You drive into the area, find or make your own parking space in the narrow lane and lug your stuff about 1/8 of a mile. At no time during my visit did we see more than 30 people on this beach. Most people stayed in a 1/4 mile stretch closest to where the cars are parked. But you can keep walking and the beach just keeps going. We walked 3/4 miles down this beach before turning around. You can plant yourself down anywhere on the beach. Some places had rocks in the surf, but the beach is so long that you can find plenty of places without rocks. The view out is of the horizon. Just spectacular.

I have been here several times. Very clam water great for a long swim. Really greasy snack bar food is available there. The bottom can be mucky and on holidays it's really busy, but it's a great kids beach.

Pay $3 to park in lot near beach or park on the street and walk in for free.Everything you dream of in a beach: sand, trees very near the water to hang up your hammock, a beach shop to buy fresh coconut water, ice cream, sunscreen and beach toys. Another little stand to buy empanadas and drinks. There are people there, so it is not your deserted beach but for people who want shade it is fantastic. The best for families as the surf is very gentle. You can now rent paddle boards and kayaks. A hidden paradise.

This is definitely one of the most beautiful beaches in Puerto Rico, crystal clear water whit really nice views. Most important not dangerous at all.

The beach when you first go in to look for a spot isn't as nice as it looks when you keep going which is why I was wondering why the tourists just went in and sat on the first spot they saw. The water and view aren't as beautiful as the clear blue waters and amazing view of the other (right) side of the beach when you keep walking more and more. I really suggest you do it so that is why I'm uploading a pic of the area.

Other than some careless litter lying around, this beach is really nice. Plenty of trees for shade. Nearby convenience store. Water was beautiful.

Buye is one of the most beautiful beaches in Puerto Rico. Very accessible by car and the water is just so clear. Excellent to enjoy with the family.

Visited in mid December 2014. This is a hidden gem. A bartender in Boqueron recommended to trek down (walk) through the shore/ sand all the way until we found smaller beaches that were more private. The trek was worth it. There were not that many people anyway on the beach so any location would have been perfect. That beach is crystal clear, blue turquoise water, clean soft sand, very silky feeling . It is sticky when you're outside the water so make sure you bring and additional towel to seat on the sand. Shade is easy to find. Bring your camera, we took tons of pictures. It is the best beach on the West side of the island. Calm water, good for snorkeling, almost no waves. True Paradise for postcard pictures. This is my favorite place on earth. Finding how to get to the beach is kind of tricky, so we paid for parking at what seemed a trailer park just to cross it and find paradise. If you pay parking you'll get access to restrooms near the parking lot. That was practical.

Nice white sand beach, not as white as Vieques, calm waters, good for children. Parking a bit small. Nice for walking. More trees than palm trees. Best on weekdays.

Our host, Max, suggested this beach as the closest to us, and his favorite. We totally agree! What a beautiful, calm, clean white sand beach. The water was walk in warm. We went on a week day and it wasn't really busy. We spent almost two hours in and out of the water. Over Boquerón Beach by a mile for cleanliness and ease of use. Most locals park outside and walk in, we paid the $3 fee to park in the security watched lot. I'm so sorry I didn't take my camera that day! What a lovely day we had.
