very nice beach with very pleasant Service. just when the cruise ships arrive... stay away. you have to pay 10 us$ to get in, but it is worth it.
$10 USD each to get in. They couldn't break a US $50 bill. Kind of annoying but they let us add it to our bar/lunch tab. And by that point we spent more than $50 so it was nice that they took credit/debit cards. Pretty beach, comfy chairs, clean bathrooms. The food was suprisingly good, drinks too. Service was lousy. When we got there, no one assigned a waitress to us. We waited over an hour and I finally went up to the bar and placed an order. But they served our lunch at a nice table with chairs right near our beach chairs and the suprisingly good food and drinks made it better. We stayed there for 6 hours, it was great.
Entrance fee 10 dollars per person. Place felt secure and had plenty of shade. Lounge chairs o.k. But lacked that great back support. Hostess was attentive and food was good. The sand was difficult to walk on compared to other beaches as it had a bread crumb consistency. You can rent kayaks and snorkeling gear, have your hair braided, shop for gifts or just sit back and enjoy drinks from their bar. We also observed some dancers providing entertainment for the cruise ship visitors.
A nice beach but the facilities are limited. And at 1000 JMD i would expect a lot more.It has recently been taken over by another company so things may improve.
We went with a tour group and did the Dunn's river fall first, and then we were taken to this beautiful beach. We were treated with food, drink and had the most relaxing time ever! The beach is beautiful, we were in the top section of the beach, the sand is pure, unlike some of the other reviewer, we had not had problem with rocks in the sand. On top of this, they have free WiFi, we manage to send some nice pictures to our family and friend on Christmas Eve. Overall, a very nice beach and beautiful place!
We did a combined tour to the Blue Hole and Reggae Beach with Yardie Tours. We really enjoyed Reggae Beach. The beach was beautiful, the food was great, and the drinks were delicious. We didn't do much while on the beach here except lay in lounge chairs and relax but this location was great for it.
Be careful, this is a private beach, you pay 10 $ for entrance to a beach which is not as beautiful as hundred other FREE beaches in this wonderful island. When you go there, you see a big white door closing the entrance, some security guards outside, they check your things like you are entering a big store, (they dont allow you to carry food or water with you, so they can sell you their 500% overprised stuff) , you lay on the chair in the beach and ask you 10 times if you want to buy something (even hustlers in free beaches do not ask you to buy something so many times)...The beach itself is nice, but there are rocks when you enter the seawater and beyond, it is not a sandy beach inside the sea. Conclusion: This is a private area, its a restaurant-coffee-bar with internal decoration the once free Reggae Beach. They even changed the name of the beach! When we reached there, they said to us that it is called now Bamboo Beach Club...Go there only if you want to spare your money.
This has, heartbreakingly, become the epitome of a tourist trap. The beach is not being maintained (under the water is all rocks and no sand. Someone I was with stepped on a sea urchin in very shallow water). Rather than getting some cheap, authentic jerk chicken the food is now incredibly overpriced on top of the $10 entrance fee. Go to ANY other beach and save yourself the time and $, seriously.
My husband and I went here with our 5 year old and 6 month old baby. Upon arrival they charged us US$25 ($10 per adult, $5 for the child) and checked our car to make sure we weren't bringing any food in. The beach was pretty but ruined by EVERYBODY trying to get money out of us. The food was very expensive and didn't look too good. We were very disappointed.
Great sun loungers and staff water is quite deep tho! So be careful this is a paying beach and I feel it is worth it
Reggae Beach is very nice and comfortable. There was a nice combination of families, groups of friends, locals and tourists. Food and drink will be brought right to you as you lounge in your beach chairs. And, they take debit/credit cards so you don't have to worry about running out of cash. The beach is private and clean. We liked it so much we went twice during our 9 days.
We enjoyed this excursion a lot. Loved the vibe and the music and the snorkelling we took our gear with), and the food and entertainment.
Visited this beach about 2 weeks ago for the first time. I really liked it. Quite, clean and very friendly staff. Shawna was very pleasant. Will definitely be visiting again.
Decided to take the family to this beach as read great reviews. We drove up to a gate , paid some £££ and was told we could not bring our own food in. Once in found chairs and shade. Sea was quite rough prob spent 40 mins in the sea . Decided we would go somewhere else to eat so showered off and left. Better beaches nearby
We visited pretty late in the afternoon with our two small kids. We were told that no food was allowed on the beach, however we were told that the kitchen was closed for a staff meeting, after we had placed our order. Annakay, our server, went out of her way to ensure that our order was prepared and our kids had something to eat. We had a cool, relaxing experience for the remainder of the day
