Offerings are not as extensive as the shop in Road Town but I am happy not to have to make that trip any more though maybe next time...?
I have been to this shop, in the heart of Road Town, many times. On the positive side, they have a lot of spices and other items for sale. Some are unique and I have made purchases there. Very nice for gifts. On the negative side, their prices are somewhat high. In addition, as you walk through the store, a salesperson will often follow you and keep watching you, as if you are going to steal something. This has made us uncomfortable.
Lots of wonderful spices, soaps and lotions. The sales people were very friendly and helpful at both locations.
This is a nice stop in Tortola for a little shopping in a quaint setting. The selections were very good and we enjoyed our brief visit while on a brief cruise ship stop. One negative note: We stopped in the very same shop while in Old San Juan. There were numerous samples in the San Juan shop to try before you make your purchases. The lack of a sample selection in the Tortola shop made it very difficult for us to decide if we wanted to make additional purchases. Therefore, we made none at this location.
We stopped into the Sunny Caribbee Spice Shop on the west end and what a cute shop. Has a lot of fun things and reasonably priced.
This tiny little shop has an amazing variety of spices, sauces, jams, teas, you name it! Very interesting and colourful artwork as well as an extensive line of soap and bath products. Have visited every time we are in Tortola and never leave empty handed!!
Okay, this is your one stop shop on your Caribbean cruise for the best gifts. Instead of a trinket no one wants, the spices are excellent. They have a variety of cute containers. I liked the round ones that look like a house. My family and I have already used the spices and we want more! They also have handmade soaps with shells etc. Just a great place to stock up on your gifts and then just enjoy the rest of your cruise with no more shopping. When you leave the cruise port just walk to the main street and it is directly across the main road.
I was expecting more based on the reviews. They do have a wide variety of spices and some teas. They also have body lotions and soaps and a small room of local art. The people were nice. One of the better places to shop in Road Town but that isn't a very high hurdle.
These are the best spice shops in the western hemisphere (deference to south asia). Always friendly and helpful, their products are simply the best. My wife and I visit their stores several times during our stays on Tortola and always return home with aromatic luggage.
For the person that likes spices and local flavour, sunny Carribe should be high on your list, they also sell local art work, all in all, a fun place
This place had been recommended for their spices and sauces; I didn't even know that it was also an art gallery, until I went inside. It's a very warm and colourful place; the assistants were very friendly and helpful with my queries, and the artwork in there was really good (if a little out of my price range). In the end, I left with a reasonably priced jar of seasoning, which I used later in the evening (and tasted brilliant). Definitely a place I would come again, if not to buy, just to admire the artwork in there :)
We visited this shop while in Tortola, and bought some Birds Eye Peppers and some XXX Calypso Hot sauce. this is supposed to be the hottest sauce they have; however, it is pretty hot and more tasty than hot. I wish they would have allowed more samples of all of the sauces, I would have bought more. Anyhow, this is still an awesome little shop and the people inside where very friendly. Highly recommended, just wish they had more samples.
We had a wonderful visit during our last trip to Tortola. There was something for everyone and my Caribbean hot sauce collection just expanded. We found teas, wine and soaps, unavailable anywhere else in the BVI or WI. The prices were good and the service also very good. We will certainly be back with maybe a website order in between for refills.
Stopped by trying to find a good restaurant. Ended up spending $65 for a set of Salsas: Tangy Tropical Ting, Caribbee Hot Sauce, Garlic Herb Green, and XXX Calypso Hot. Can't wait to try them all!! Two very nice sales-ladies helped us choose them. Also bought seasonings: Herb Pepper Blend, Seasoned Sea Salt, and Super Spice. Being a salt addict I look forward to cooking my next great piece of fish! It's a must-see if you're a foodie like me. You even get a brochure with recipes using their suggested spices. Their website is: www.sunnycaribbee.com
We read about this place from Lonely Planet guide book I guess and it really was nice little shop in central location. Hundreds of different spices, herbs, teas etc. nicely packed, with nice etiquettes, so ideal for souvenirs too. We bought some jerk seasoning and hot sauce and those were real good.
