A beautiful beach, not crowded with a solid beach bar & restaurant. We really enjoyed our day, the beach has little wooded umbrellas with tables that you can sit under and rent chairs for $5 from the bar. This is a surfing beach, so there are waves, not the calm waters that other beaches on the island offer. But its beautiful and we loved it low-key vibe. We also ate lunch at the bar which was good- what can be wrong with a burger while sitting on the beach?
We spent many days at this beach, it was clean and had two places that served drinks and food. You also can rent chairs for $5.00 for the day.
Love to watch Aicah? and other surf instructors, instruct young and older, the fun of surfing. they have such patience! A beauty of a beach, pay attention to the color of flag, red, stop, yellow, use your brain. Get happy, let a warm wave slap you down.
The road to this beach will make you think yo';re heading in the wrong direction. At the end of the road, you park in a tiny little lot that still gives nothing away. Walk around the bend, and this beach opens up in front of you - AMAZING!! The waves were really crashing the day we were there. Beautiful scenery. There is a good bar with surprisingly good food as well. Don't miss this hidden gem.
Quiet beach to ride some waves & watch the surfers. Little palm trees to catch some shade. Beach bar with drinks available. Food only so-so - best to bring your own lunch
http://www.surfschoolbvi.com contact Steve for a great surfing experience. My 14 year old daughter was surfing with Icah at Surfschool BVI like a pro!
We spent four days on Tortola in mid-January, and went to quite a few of the beaches. Josiah's Bay was by far the best. A long, fairly wide curving beach in a bay with a bar/restaurant at the beginning. There were some beach chairs available, and they seemed to be free as no-one came to ask us for any money. The beach was empty on the day we were there (Friday). The public toilets were closed, but you can use the ones in the bar/restaurant. The shower attached to the toilets worked though - only "cold" water but that was fine. This beach apparently does get some good surf, but when we were there the sea was very calm and swimming conditions were great. Clear water with a sandy bottom. Some coral at the north end of the beach if you want to snorkel.Food and drinks at the bar were ok and reasonably priced.
A bit of a drive to get here but the surfing is quite popular here and the strip of beach is beautiful. Plenty of beautiful shells for the collectors and clear blue water. Although its a perfect beach for swimming, the surfers dominate the surf, making it a bit hard to swim off the shore.
It is a great place to learn to surf. The surf shop is fabulous! Steve taught our son to surf - he had an excellent time. The beach is great, the rum smoothies are yummy!
great little beach with excellent surf. There's a snack bar there with drinks and sandwiches, and plenty of space to spread out and enjoy yourself.
This place is a little hard to get to but once there you are rewarded greatly. The waves here are huge so if you surf this is your spot. The food at Naomi's little shack was ok, nothing special but the service is great and Naomi was a black to chat with.
This beach is a wonderful get away. Never crowded, and can the best body surfing beach ever. We have swam with turtles and watched the surfers. Great beach bar with good food.Great final stop before Beef Island.
Went here many years ago, it was a gorgeous beach, we surfed it which waas more of an advanced surfing beach with good waves and forr good swimmers, it was very secluded at the time but had a hotel under construction, would forsure go back.
This is a great little stop for lunch and a view. One of the roughest beaches on Tortola, it's generally never cleared for swimming but you may see a hard-core surfer or two, catching waves. Fun to walk around, looking for shells and washed-up sea fans. Umbrellas along the beach if you want to pack a picnic. Be sure to say hi to the goats on the road leading to Josiah's.
Beach was beautiful and empty. What a great hideaway. You've gotta go by Big D's. Conch fritters and drinks were great.
