Scotch Block Winery is a bit off the beaten path from area wine regions. There are a few things to note that may inform your willingness to venture about 8 km off the highway to note...1. The winery works in conjunction with Andrew's Acres, a working farm that serves up all kinds of fresh produce, u-pick berries, a fall pumpkin patch, u-pick flowers/sunflowers, ice cream, etc.2. The wine is not the best, and the service in the winery is below average. Some of the wines I sampled tasted downright off, while others (many fruit wine options) were ok. The space for tasting is small, and everything is served in throw-away plastic cups. While I am usually a sucker to purchase wines from a "new" place, I did not feel so inclined here.3. The farm is the real draw. They offer wagon rides, a picnic area, a market, and even grill hot dogs and serve baked pies. If they can make money doing it legally, it is probably done here.4. Service is better in the main market area than the winery. Keep in mind that family teenagers or other neighbours are the primary servers.5. The blueberry picking was a big draw. I enjoyed picking blueberries here and enjoyed the ice cream. 6. The restrooms are in an inaccessible trailer behind the main covered market area. They were not clean or in full working order during my visit. In conclusion, I would definitely visit for a u-pick produce experience, but perhaps not for the wine.
