Its a relic from days past. Comfy seats to newly released movies. Cheap popcorn and eats from the concession stand.
Best concert ever. The theatre was sold-out, and Cuddy and friends were superb, as ever. The banter and interaction with the audience made the performance memorable.
The Regent is the only local theatre and has been recently renovated. It is charming, however, it needs more programming. There are not a lot of live events -- mostly movies, too bad!.
Such a thrill to see a movie in a theatre that looks exactly like the one I grew up going to.They still make popcorn fresh and hot with real butter and an elderly gentleman is only too happy to serve it to you.
Picton is not a hotbed of activity, particularly on a chilly, windy, unseasonably cold summer night. So we were quite thankful for a 7:30 pm showing of a relatively newly released kid-friendly movie on Picton's main street. Cheap treats, nice manager, old-timey theatre.
Recently upgraded and beautifully restored (on-going), the historic Regent presents all recent cinema releases, live-casting of world stage productions (War Horse), documentary and film-fest series, in addition to frequent live 'big name' concerts (Valdy, Bara McNeils, Bruce Cockburn, Vinyl Café...) ...but best of all: Live stage productions! The County Theatre Group regularly presents Broadway-style shows: HMS Pinafore, Mikado, Blood Brothers, Christmas Carol, just to name a few. Feel free to take a look around!
What a great theatre to have our 5 year old have his first movie-going experience! Comfortable, well-priced and they don't blast the sound! I love it here...
I have been going here since I was a child, the restoration is beautiful and the atmosphere is very comforting!!
with amazing shows and there are free family movies on sunday afternoons at 2 pm. great variety of shows and always very welcoming staff! Great pop corn and munchies, always your favourite seat available
I love the cinema here - it's like stepping back in time. The only reason we don't go more often is because the sound system is not great, and I find it very difficult to hear the dialogue.
So enjoyed the evening of wonderful music by the late great Roy Orbison. Also enjoyed the history of the town including the Regent Theatre.
A classic theatre that you rarely get to see anymore in the age of the multiplex. There is almost always one rainy afternoon when we visit the sandbanks area, so we've been to this theatre on every trip to catch a film. Its never crowded and the popcorn is fresh.
One ticket taker; popcorn and a drink for $5; ads from local businesses before the show; feels like a visit back to my home town or the perfect end to a day at the county fair every time I go in there. It's a throwback that will leave you yearning for simpler times. If you're in the County, watch the marquis and wait for a rainy day. Go to at least one show before you head home.
