This golf course, located on the north side of CFB Trenton, is open to the public. If you have knee problems and can walk but not walk up or down hills, this course is for you. There are short distances between greens and tee boxes. There is a good mix of par 3, 4 and 5 holes, three 60 degree dog legs (nos 4,15 left, no five right) and one gentle left dog leg on no.16. There is creek running in front of the greens on nos. 2 and 9, while a hooked shot on no. 3 faces deep rough and the creek. There are lots of trees to contend with, and the new management has made a number of improvements to tee boxes and is "sculpting" the fairways on some holes to make play for errant balls more challenging. A larger deck has been added to the older covered one off the club house. The restaurant offers standard fare in season, a bar, and "cart" service for drinks/sandwhiches etc. Access to the course is through the "west" gate on the north side of CFB Trenton, and can be confusing if you don't know the base. Good paved road access and large, unpaved parking lot. The road runs between the no.5 green and no. 6 and 8 tee boxes. Drive carefully here; I have seen two errant hooked tee shots from no 8 hit cars. You cannot bring your own alcohol but coolers with water or soft drinks have been permitted in the past.
A mature course, Roundel Glen will present a challenge to new and experienced golfers alike. The front nine is a challenge for those that can not work the ball. Small greens add to the difficulty. The back nine presents more scoring opportunities, especially on the final 3 holes. If you score even on the par 3s and par 5s, you will be well set for a decent score. Good value, and good service should put this course on anyone's list of courses to play in the Quinte Region.
