This is the place to go to find the most amazingly delicious chocolates and sweets. Along with some assorted gifts in the storefront, they produce ONLY handmade chocolate and candies fresh everyday, using large copper kettles and fresh ingredients. The owners, Ron & Pat Cottrell, have operated this site since they opened in 1985, and their attention to quality is evident in every bite. I'd been wanting to check out their original shop since I'd first shopped at their 2nd outlet in the Covent Garden market in London, ON years ago, and finally had the opportunity earlier this month. In fact, I was so delighted with the fudge I'd bought a couple of years ago, that I even spoke with Ron and had a batch shipped out to me in BC!! On this visit, I left there fully stocked!! The salesclerk that assisted us the day we dropped in day was so friendly and helpful, explaining the process, offering samples, and thereby guaranteeing that we left with everything we'd come for, and more, I have to admit... lolThey'll put together gift baskets, wedding treats, etc. If you want truffles, fudge, caramels, peanut brittle, their famous Mint Smoothies and so many other mouth-watering delicacies, (they also offer treats for diabetics), all HANDMADE, you have to stop by the Chocolate Factory and say hello to Ron and Pat. And while you're in St Mary's, you can walk off some of those calories by taking a walk around this beautiful historic town; the limestone buildings alone are worth the visit!!
