There are beautiful sights from every angle around the Bras d'Or lakes. There are a host of great events and places to discover. Even in Winter.

This is a beautiful fresh lake. There are a lot of activities to do on the water. We had planned to try some lake kayaking but the weather was to windy and cool.

Few natural sights make me as happy as seeing the Bras d'Or after a year's absence. See it from as many angles and vantage points as you can...Baddeck, Irish Cove, Big Pond...not to be missed!

Very scenic......many leisure & fishing boats.....expensive-looking cottages......Dundee Resort & Golf is at lower end.......nice course, really good food & service......situated on the lake.

We drove most of the scenic roads around this lake - we left Baddeck early and finished up in Sydney at the end of the day having enjoyed all the scenery both inland, on the water and the small fishing communities on the way.

It would take days to drive around this spectacular body of water..with all it's fiords, bays and islands...A must to experience..

As cruising yacht people, this is the absolute pinnacle of sailing in Eastern North America. With deep, well-marked water with numerous anchorages, the friendliest people anywhere and gorgeous scenery, it is difficult to imagine how it could get any better than this. We prefer to use St. Peter's Lions Club Marina as our "home base" for the three to five weeks we visit here most summers. After restocking "Ever After" in the village, we'll head out on the Lake for anywhere from 4 to 5 days anchoring in different locations, relaxing and just absorbing the beauty of the area. Then, it's a return to St. Peter's, grab a shower, do laundry, restock again and head back out. IF we had started doing this 30 years ago, we MIGHT have had the time to visit all the anchorages here. Simply breathtaking! Of COURSE we'll be back!

As sailors, my husband and I we're interested in the area after talking to the locals. We were not disappointed. This is a beautiful place for the nature traveler though there are plenty of upscale and trendy restaurants and beautiful lodgings in the area. We found the Moon guide and Fodor's to be very accurate. We only spent 1 night in the area but we are already thinking about a return visit.

Again, it would have been nice to have more time in this area, but it is very quiet and scenic, a huge inland lake.

One usually passes the Bras d'Or lake on the way to Cabot Trail, but even if you don't plan to get up that far, brush alongside this beautiful lake and villages around it. So many scenic sites that almost take your breath away. Sit still for a moment and take it all in for sure. There are several neat local artisans around this area as well - my traveling companions were loving the combination of nature and arts/crafts! Whether you spend all day or a few hours, do so!

Again if you love nature this is your place, beware of the Canadian mosquitoes they are huge! We did not swing on the lake so we did not have that issue.

Running a good portion of the eastern side of Cape Breton, Bras d'Or Lake is surrounded by mountains, wooded hillsides and beautiful harbors. You can sit for hours and watch the sailboats.

the area around this lake is beautiful. We headed south from Louisbourg and then crossed over the lake using the bridge at the Narrows (near Iona) and then again on a ferry heading over to Glenvale (or was that Glendale). The day was a bit over cast but the views of the lake and the towns/villages around there were still worthwhile. Lots of areas to pull off the road and take in the sights - the Cabot Trail isn't the only scenic drive in Cape Breton. It was a long drive but not a difficult one.

Marble Mountain is a small community on the North Shore of the Bras d'Or about 30 minutes from Port Hawkesbury. It has a lovely beach with crystal clear water which ranges in colour from Caribbean turquoise to an almost navy blue. There is a look-off with terrific views across the lake and if you are a hiker, you can climb to the top of the marble quarry or up the Mountain Road. Many eagles may be seen in the spring when the smelts are running in the brooks but you may also see a few in the trees near the shore at other times of year. No stores or accommodation right in the village, but worthwhile stopping for a day during your visit to Cape Breton.
