I have helped host 2 events here and have enjoyed the delectable fruit wines and a savoury lunch on the deck. Service is impeccable and the owners are very charming. A lovely stop on Hwy 97.
I often stop in Cache Creek on my way to to the Houston/Smithers area. I have been traveling that Canyon route for some 65 years now, and Cache Creek has always been the first overnight on the way up North and the last overnight on the way back to the coast.I often travel with my two AKITA dogs, and tie them to my truck while I have a lunch and a taste of wine at the Bonaparte Winery. The staff and the owner have always met me with a friendly welcome, and have accomodated my needs. I usually leave with at least one or two cases of Berry Wine.On my last trip, my big male AKITA, saw a cat just as I was tying him up and he dragged me over the gravel in the parking lot. I was a bit worse for the wear. But thanks to a friendly neighbour of the winery, and the helpful staff, we were able to secure "Slum Dog" and tie him to my truck and give him a drink of water. The ladies in the bistro were very sympathetic, and caring. They offered me comfort and a quiet place to gather my thoughts and fed me a beautiful healthy lunch.I was very grateful, and I wouldn't think of passing through Cache Creek in the future without stopping at Bonaparte Winery for lunch, some Summer Wine, and a case or two to go..
Enjoyed the view immensely, wish I wasn’t driving so I could try all the wines. Food was reasonable priced and very good
After driving by for many years, finally stopped for lunch. What a great change form fast food down the road. Very relaxing. Great views. Food was good and fresh. 2 tastes of fruit wine. A overall great stop.
We stopped here for lunch coming back from Prince George. Most places along the highway are fast food. This, on the other hand, is a nice relaxing place to stop for a pleasant lunch on the patio. Very clean, nice surroundings, limited menu but decent food. The staff are friendly & helpful. A great place to take a break along the highway.
We stopped at Bonaparte Bend Winery for Friday lunch. The corner spot on the patio left us with a beautiful view of the surroundings and the property. The food tasted great and was obviously made in house! The chicken sandwich had pieces of real chicken that obviously came from a chicken that was roasted as opposed to anything processed. The kaiser bun was also soft and super tasty and we were told they were baked in the shop. We also tasted 8 of the wines. They were very good fruit wines that were generally not too sweet at all. There was a range in terms of sweetness and dryness. They all had a distinctly fruity flavour and I came away with a rhubarb wine!
My sisters and I stopped at the Bonaparte Winery for a Saturday lunch yesterday. The service was prompt, our table was cleaned immediately and we enjoyed a leisurely lunch which included tasty carrot, ginger soup and a lovely fresh salad as well as samples of their tasty fruit wines.
Its a nice place off the highway overlooking the valley. The lunches are very tasty (not cheap though) and commonly you get a taster round of one the wines (I don't like sweet wines, so can't really comment on them).
we thought we would go for lunch and we went in and it looked real nice. Then the proprieter goes we aren't open for lunch because we are expecting a bus tour. So why didn't they have sign outside or something. My husband was diabetic and had to eat. So we went up the road. Never stepped a foot in there again, and tell of our experience.
Nice wine - lots to choose from. Knowledgeable folks. Good atmosphere.
We didn't have lunch there, but did sample the wines. Very different tastes compared to other wineries, nice light and refreshing. Especially loved the "Boysenberry" served nice and cold. Great taste. Bought some wine jelly also, which was good.
My wife and I found them last summer and had a very good meal with our wine purchase, we were headed for Abbottsford in July this summer and stopped and purchased several of the fruit wines, were to late in the day for a meal, so when we were on our way back thru a week later we timed our vist for lunch. It was an excellent lite meal, the Ruhbarb wine is extremly good. Our friends thought it was the best Ruhbarb wine they had ever had. Funny though considering Rubarb is really a vegetable.
We decided to stop here for lunch. The food selection is limited but very tasty. Not much for kids but really who takes their kids to a winery for lunch (besides us and our kids eat anything so it worked out fine and they even split the dishes up for them so we didn't have to order 3 full meals). Wines were ok - they definately have the experience in the fruit wines but they weren't anything spectaculor. Nice friendly service and overall a nice stop for lunch if you want something other then fast food or cafe fare.
This is the only winery in this area, and a fruit winery too boot! The restaurant serves really good food and they sample the wine while you eat.Family run and very friendly.
