This was a wonderful experience lead by knowledgable and professional guides who were very kind and patient with all participants , some who were first timers like myself. They have a passion for climbing and repelling and knew a lot about ice and weather conditions. Although it was -40 windchill they kept us busy, focused on the beauty of our surroundings and the tranquility of the snow and ice. They supplied all equipment and prepared us for everything. You do need hand/foot warmers but other then that we were not cold at all. Nice touch with the photo and the hot chicken soup at the end... can't wait to go again even in -40!!!
We were scheduled to go ice canyoning at the end of an unexpectedly warm week in December. There had a been quite a bit of melting so the conditions were not ideal. Our guides made the best of the situation. We were able to rappel about halfway down the side of the mountain but too much water from previously warm weather and freezing temperatures the day that we rappelled made it dangerous to continue. Marc, the leader, wanted to make sure that we (2 adults and 3 children) were happy with our adventure so he spent about half an hour putting together ropes so that we could rappel down the side of a large running waterfall, just out of reach of the water. This rappel was not part of the original plan but it was the best part of our day. Much of the rappel was completely vertical and we were so close to the water but just out of reach so we did not get wet. It was really beautiful. Our trip lasted about an hour longer than originally anticipated. We were really impressed with Marc's concern for safety and his desire to make sure that we had a good time. He took what could have been a disappointing excursion and made it into a very memorable and exciting adventure. It was a lot of fun. I highly recommend it!
Rappelling down a frozen waterfall at Mont St-Anne was a last minute addition to our Quebec City trip, and ended up being one of our highlights. Mark Tremblay and Eric were wonderful guides. Neither my husband nor I had ever rappelled before, and they made it easy. As they say, the hardest part is climbing the stairs back up once you've come down. The frozen waterfall was beautiful and peaceful, with ice glittering in many different colors. Canyoning-Quebec also offers a trip down the waterfall during the summer, and I hope to be coming back to try it then as well. If you are staying in Quebec City, there is a ski shuttle to Mont St. Anne that will take you to the center where you will meet Mark and Eric. After rappelling, you'll have time to explore the ski center and eat before catching the shuttle back to the city.
I wanted to celebrate my 50th birthday with my adventure loving 11 year old daughter and accommodating wife who -- it turns out -- is a bigger daredevil than either one of us! I contacted Mark Tremblay, owner and Founder of Canyoning Quebec, online prior to my arrival in Canada. He responded promptly and was extremely accommodating and responsive. He and his assistant Valerie were amazing. The weather was marginal at best on the day we selected to go Canyoning but he was able to convince my wife and daughter that the experience would be worthwhile. We originally thought about cancelling the Canyoning part because it was cold and windy and we thought about opting for a less "wet and cold" experience like ziplining. Fortunately, Mark convinced us we would be warm in our wetsuits and we stuck to our plan. Mark and Valerie gave us easy to follow instructions on how to rappell properly and, while I thought the lesson seemed too brief and on too small an incline to really learn how to do it, it turned out they showed us exactly what we needed to learn. The whole experience was exhilarating, fun and a memorable and unique way to celebrate a milestone. Mark threw in a ziplining experience on top of the canyoning experience at not extra cost. My whole family highly recommends this unique, safe and fun experience to any adventure loving travelers to Quebec City!
This was a wonderful way to spend several hours in nature with family, challenging ourselves to some really fun canyoning experiences! Our French guide was personable and light hearted and spoke English well enough to safely guide us through four waterfall canyons, a zip line and a hike through picturesque woods. Overall it was a wonderful experience; I highly recommend it. Book early, and pack a picnic lunch to enjoy when you are finished. (No purchased food available at the park). The only thing we didn't do was arrive with the proper clothing! Wetsuits are provided, but only if it is cold enough to wear them. Otherwise, wear appropriate fast-drying clothing that you can move in and wear shoes with a solid tread that can get wet. And you will appreciate having a warm/dry change of clothes with you when you are finished!
This is one of the best things I have done. I did it in the summer last year as well as return and try ice canyoning in the winter. Marc Tremblay is an amazing guide. This activity is great fun but you should book early because it fills up. In the summer I did the canyoning in Charlevoix and in the winter, Mt. Sainte Anne. Both are amazing. I would recommend this to anyone
I almost don't want to review Canyoning Quebec because if more people find out how much fun it is then it will be harder for me to book another trip! This was one of the best excursions I have done anywhere. If you enjoy nature, breathtaking views and enjoy outdoor adventure then this is for you. The guides were super energetic and encouraging and always made sure you were comfortable and safe. We met at the main base of Monte Sainte Anne and it was a short 10 min walk to the Jean Larose Falls. They gave us a tutorial of how to use the equipment and to test it out and then we walked in the river to the first water fall. Along the way they told us some local geographical history of the river. We got to the first fall and they set up the ropes and lines and we got to rappel down the waterfall. The views from the top of the falls was amazing and you really wouldn't get that view unless you were actually standing on the waterfall. At the bottom of the second fall we all got a chance to jump off a 7 meter cliff which really got the adrenaline pumping, but so much fun. Overall i would recommend this to everyone in a heartbeat. Thanks for a great day of adventure.
For beginners, a leap of faith is required. Throughout the trip, we felt very safe, well- guided, and we enjoyed it very much! Thank you for our wonderful lady guides who are just exemplary! Merci!
I have done 2 canyoning trips with Canyoning Quebec now and both were fabulous. The first was in July 2012 in Charlevoix and the latest is ice canyoning on December 30. Both were so much fun and totally unbelievable. The breath taking views and the secluded areas are great. You really need to be in some type of shape to do both of these activities however. This is well worth the money!! I would recommend this to any adventure or thrill seeker
We stumbled onto this Canyoning lesson/adventure while up in Quebec City. It is only 30 minutes or so from downtown. My family of 4 (son 13 and daughter 11) were soon rapelling down waterfalls. My son and I even jumped off a 15 foot cliff. They give you wet suits so you can deal with the cold water. I cannot recommend this highly enough.
Merci : )
