nuku-hiva tours

We spent New Years Day with Nuku-Hiva tours and thoroughly enjoyed it. From the booking with Kevin Ellis to the tour with Philip Beardmore, the experience was wonderful. We booked ahead (they have a website!) and prepaid a deposit. Kevin was very communicative and answered all of our questions. Make sure to bring cash to pay the remainder as Kevin was unable to accept other forms of payment upon check in. Our day-long tour started with meeting at the wharf, boarding a nice, well-kept vehicle, and enjoying the commentary of Philip Beardmore, our knowledgeable and experienced guide. He drove us to many interesting spots on the island. We started at a viewpoint of Taiohae Bay, where our cruise ship was anchored. Our next stop was at a lookout above Taipivai Valley, then down to Ho'oumi Beach. We experienced a copra shed, the amazing archeological finds at Kamuihei, Anaho and the famous Yvonne's, and Aakapa. A full and interesting day, and very reasonably priced. Thank you to Philip and Kevin for an amazing first glimpse of Nuku Hiva!

During a recent cruise to the Polynesian and Marquesa Islands, we arranged for a half-day tour of the Isle of Nuku-Hiva with NukuHivaTours@gmail.com and found the proprietor, Kevin Ellis, to be courteous, helpful, and willing to negotiate a reasonable price for the tour. The vehicle used was in excellent condition and had air conditioning which was highly desirable in the tropical environment of the island. Best of all, our driver and tour guide, Philip Beardmore, spoke excellent English, was very well informed relative to the history and the lay of the land of the island, and exhibited a terrific sense of humor. All in all, our foursome experienced Nuku-Hiva in a manner unlikely to have occurred during an excursion organized by a cruise line.
