A very good experience for us especially we are living in city. We stayed at the Garden Cottage, a cozy, comfortable with well equipped cottage. Felt like home inside and we liked the real fire place very much. Warm & romantic! The animal feeding time in the morning brought us lot of funs too!

visited in March 2014. I couldve spent many more hours there but will return when not on a time table.

A very warm welcome from one of the owners who gave us a comprehensive history of the family estate. The farm buildings were very interesting and the garden at the main homestead were truly beautiful.

Brickendon Estate is still a working farm with many historic farm buildings. The buildings are spread out but easy to walk around. The big drawback is that almost none of the building have anything in them and there is a lack of information about the buldings in the buildings. The chapel is easily the most interesting building in my opinion. Its not possible to visit the main house, though you can visit the garden. The garden is pleasant and if you have the time I would recommend you visit. If you only have limited time I would strongly recommend you visit Woolmers Estate which is better maintained and has guided tours.

W enjoyed everything about our stay here. The cottages are wonderful and as you are on site you can wander around in the evening or go and eat in Longford or cook in the cottage. We enjoyed feeding all the animals and looking at the interesting buildings especially the tiny church and the shearing shed.

First thing to say is I wrotethe review for Brickendon Estate in the Brickendon Cottages area - derrr. We enjoyed the self guided tour and felt like we had stepped back in time, but all around us was evidence of a working farm, which the Archers keep going. Theres a great little video to watch about the family. If yopu have time do the walk across the paddocks to Woolmers

We left Hobart with our friends to stay a night on this famous early colonial working farm, prior to visiting nearby Evandale the next day to see the famous Penny Farthing Races. The cottage is a rustic copy of the real thing, perfectly comfortable, with verandah overlooking the farmland and river, our own 3 horses, dozens of tame chickens and their chicks, a personal farm cat and laid back pig! Rural peace, with well preserved early farm buildings to explore. The main house nearby has an enormous park-like garden dating back to the early 1800s which one is free to wander around. Quite an amazing place. Close to Evandale and more exploring, restaurants, cafes etc. We'll be back to break a journey further north.

The history of the estate is very interesting. Lots to see and do. Make sure you visit in time to join the animal feeding (sheep, donkey, horses, goats, chickens, pig, ducks, turkey, calf etc). Beautiful gardens (we saw an echidna here).
