Jackaroo ranch has a spectacular location and is a great experience for horse lovers to be able to ride through the hills of Bathurst. Although the quality of the camp is definately lacking and overpriced. The owner of the camp and property favouritises the regular campers and good riders over the beginners and can be very belittling. The beds are old and the food is low quality. I found myself very hungry as we had an early breakfast, rid for 7 hours straight and didn't have lunch until about 4. Although the facilities were low quality and the owner could be mean I would be lying if I didn't say I learnt a lot over the 5 days I camped for. I would recommend to go there for a day trip to experience the scenery but I wouldn't recommend the camp for more than 4 days. I also would say that it's not so good for younger kids.

Learnt nothing. The owner is extremely impatient and belittling, especially for young children. Teachers are meant to be patient and not insult the way you are riding, but rather be understanding. I was mocked and made to feel useless just because I made a simple, common mistake while trotting. The food is also provided in extremely small portions and the meals are hours and hours apart. Dinner can arrive to as late as 10, while lunch can arrive as late as 4. Little care is given to the horses, as the majority are overweight, while one is anorexic. The beds are old and very weak and uncomfortable, while the food is very processed and the bread is stale at times! Very very disappointing. I would not recommend this for anyone at any age. Payed almost $1000 for one of the worst camps I've been to.
