The COWRA Visitor Centre complex is attractive with coffee shop, rose garden, information centre/gift shop, and the hologram woman presentation on the COWRA breakout. We've seen the presentation a couple of times and found it very interesting. Staff is kowledgeable, and can answer most questions.
The hologram presentation of the Cowra breakout kept all in our group aged from 5 - 66 enthralled. Lots of info. presented in a visually gripping way. Inspired us to do the trek through where the camp was - even though it was raining1
The visitor's centre has a hologram presentation which gives a brief summary of the famous POW breakout. It is only 9 minutes long, and gives a good, quick background.
The staff who were there this time were so very helpful with the information I was seeking about the Migrant camp. They also have a brilliant hologram film on the Japanese POW camp and breakout. So very worth a visit.
The hologram tells the story of the Cowra breakout in a nutshell. It is so well done and engaging. There is other information at the Centre about the Cowra breakout and also about the region in general.
This display helps the visitor place the events that occurred in Cowra during the Second World War into perspective. The display is thoughtfully and carefully orchestrated. Well worth a visit.
The hologram at the Visitors Centre in Cowra is well worth seeing. We have not seen anything like it in our travels. If you are travelling through Cowra, the Visitors Centre is situated on the roads to/ from Sydney, Boorowa, Young and Grenfell. The great thing is you don't have to stop for long to enjoy it, unless it inspires you to also visit the site of the breakout, the Japanese Gardens and the War Cemetery.
This was a very well presented depiction of the story relating the famous breakout of prisoners from the POW camp. It should not be missed as it forms the historical background of the relationship between Australia and Japan, especially in Cowra. There was no charge, but a donation was requested.
Staff very knowlagable on cowra and surrounds. Talk to the abou your needs and they can point you in the right direction. You must view the animated video, it's priceless.
The presentation was short, precise and full of information, given in a "chatty" way by the hologram portraying a local Cowra girl waiting for her fiancée to come back from the war. It ran for 9 minutes and kept you captivated. After viewing, we felt that seeing the POW Camp site first was an advantage.
The centre has a great POW Theatre but best of all is the Cowra Rose Garden at the front - Great to have the names of each rose on clearly marked plaques.
The staff of the visitor centre were very friendly and helpful. The centre itself has plenty of brochures and information booklets and also souvenirs and other interesting items. What sets this visitor centre apart from others is that it has a POW theatre, where you can watch a very interesting and intriguing holographic presentation about the Cowra Breakout. The 9-minute presentation was quite informative and provided us with detailed information about Cowra and its past. Be sure not to miss this when visiting the area!
This visitor centre not only provides the usual great information and brochures on local attractions, but also has a show within the POW theatre, in regards to the Cowra Breakout. You will hear the story of the 1944 breakout from a hologram style show which is very moving. There is also a good range of wine, souvenirs and some memorabilia in the centre itself.
Stopped to get some local info and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The hologram presentation was Fantastic and we learnt a lot about Cowra and there history. They even helped us with Information about were we are heading next.
