Good to say you have seen them, Information & film showing inside. No coffee shop or seating area's, It's just a drive in , look about & drive out
Great place to take the kids to learn about space!! There is several interactive displays which both adults and kids love.
Visited on Boxing Day, so only outside views available - plenty of description boards around, and explanations. Telescopes moved quite frequently, so suspect on some computer driven search program. Even a small telescope you can move yourself to pick up sun's radio waves.
The telescopes were interesting to view and read about. My children 5yrs and 9yrs were a little bored/young.
This is something that you should visit, its really interesting and worth the 20 minute drive out of town.
We went out early in the morning around 8.00am and there was no one else there. The kids loved to have a run around. The kangaroos were also up and about and great to watch. Lots to look at and for the kids to touch and play. It was a good 40 minutes well spent.
The dishes themselves are interesting, but the info centre certainly adds to the experience, with interactive displays in the garden that the kids will love. An easy drive from Narrabri and with Yarrie lake only a short drive on from there
This is a fascinating place to visit. The telescopes are an amazing sight. The facility is open during daylight hours. The information building is unmanned but there is a lot of information about what is being done and a very good video showing. I loved the fast forward dance of the telescopes to music. There are very clean ammenities with BBQ 's and tables. It's well worth the visit.
This is a satellite partner of the Australian Uni mob who have these six dishes focus into the sky...nothing amazing just different. Have a little exhibition centre there that explains what happens, heaps of roos around the place as a couple of picnic areas marked out!
We enjoyed seeing the telescopes in motion. The visitors center was informative, despite it being an unmanned operation. Also found the kangaroo population to be quite entertaining!
Well worth the visit if you are in the area. The visitor centre is quite informative and the film shown really good to give kids an overview. We really enjoyed the picnic tables as well and the nature around
Fantastic and educational. Plenty of info presented well. Don't forget to stop and watch the videos on the site. Looking forward to open day
Who would have known that such a huge internationally respected and visited scientific establishment existed near Narrabri. Very informative and lots of fun, especially if you can ring up and organise a guided tour.
In the middle of nowhere you suddenly come upon 6 enormous dishes 22 metres in diameter - 5 of which are on a 3 kms straight railway track. As we stood there we could see them rotating. There was a visitors centre where the workings are well documented although fairly complex for the average person. However we were just fascinated to see them.
Unfortunately we were still running on Queensland time when we went to visit the site so the information centre was closed, however the boards outside were very informative and it was a beautiful evening so I was able to get some great shots of 5 of the 6 radio telescopes. Well worth a quick visit but watch for the local Roos as you drive up
