Overall I thought the Top Cat Charter was very poor. The guide didn't organise the charter in a way that made the customer experience the highest priority of the day. Top Cat charters should take into account the following in order to improve the overall customer experience.1) Be on time. Being late for a 6am charter kick off is poor form, especially when your customers are on time. We didnt leave until 6.45 am. 2) Introduce yourself to your customers when you arrive (late), and shake their hands. Its just plain good manners.3) In the morning, explain the plan for the day. Where you are heading, what type of fishing you are going to do, and for how long.4) A general safety brief would be good - ie life jackets are located here, emergency beacon is here, man over drill, weather expected, anticipated swell etc etc. And explain where the food and beverages are located. Also talk through toilet arrangements - not sure how we would have fared had their been a woman onboard. 5) Equipment - email a kit list to participants before the day - ie rain weather gear, change of clothes, sea sickness pills etc etc. Or carry enough of the above for everyone.6) The one crew member and Captain starting 'beer oclock' at 1030 am when responsible for a number of participants is foolhardy.7) Talk through what you are doing, in terms of attracting and trying to catch a game fish. Its interesting for new comers. 8) Get the customers involved, dont just hand them a rod when the fish is on the line.Overall a poorly organised charter that I could not recommend. In many cases the customer is ancillary to the charter, and is just paying the way for the owner to pursue his hobby.
