We called in after visiting Western Plains Zoo, and what a hidden gem we found. Wines lovely served by excellent owners, thank you Sue, and a cheese platter to die for. We stayed the night in our motor home in the vineyard grounds. Ken and Sue offer self contained vehicles the choice of power, $10 per night or unpowered, free! So pleasant amongst the vines. The next morning Ken stopped and chatted about the Winery and the picking of the crop about to happen. Very informative and sociable people. Thanks for the stay!
Hi there. Thanks for your positive comments. Red Earth Estate wines continue to flourish, appearing on dining tables in homes all over Australia (and the world). Thanks again,Christine
Thank you for your kind comments.Ken and I always endeavour to provide the warmest welcome to our visitors, and are always happy to welcome visitors who have come to Dubbo to visit Western Plains Zoo. The comments we receive include "A wine tasting and cheese platter at Red Earth Estate is the nicest way to finish off a day at the Zoo".Kind regards
4 of us called into the winery after a days local sightseeing. We like to try local wines, so the setting was perfect to sit outside under the glory vines and catch a little afternoon sun while we tasted the Red Earth Estate wines. The owner Sue suggested a cheese platter and it was a good way to taste the wines while she discussed the different characteristics of each variety. The platter was $22 and sufficient for the 4 of us to share for a snack. Local pistachio nuts were a good accompaniment to the 2 cheeses and preserves. We purchased a couple of bottles of wine and also some licorice sold in the cellar door. The licorice, which we tasted later that day, was rather average, but we had a pleasant time relaxing and enjoying the vineyard landscape, before heading back to our B&B which was only 5 mins drive away.
