For a cheap entrance fee of $7 its a good place to drop-by while you are in the area. Very accessible and parking is available inside the compound. Lots of displays to look and placed at different heritage buildings. The staff were very friendly. You will be given a booklet with map and explanation of each building (I toured around alone) so you will know the background. Seen a lot of interesting things from old post office, old lady's dress and accessories, old cameras, old blacksmiths materials, old bottles etc. When I'm in the place, its like I'm brought back to the olden days. See it yourself...
The tour is good, cheaply priced, they also have a functions centre and a restaurant(unsure if still in operation). The staff are friendly and polite. they cover many era's from this district.
Beenleigh Historical Village has been well put together, and is excellently maintained. The buildings are great, and all the exhibits are interesting. The old railway station is a highlight.
This is a great place to visit and to take the kids so they can see and understand what it was like to live 50 years ago so they can understand how hard it was for people to get through life compared to how easy it is in todays world.
When we were in Brisbane we hired a car for a couple of days to look around. One place we dropped in on was Old Beenleigh Town. This was very interesting and there was a lot of displays open. The cost was very inexpensive but I am afraid I have forgotten the price. The old Australian houses were very interesting and they had a lot of period farming equipment. If in Brisbane this was worth a visit. Unfortunately the cafe was closed the day we wree there and this was a slight disappointment but I could see there is some sort of re-development happening.
This is an interesting well set up historical village. It's in a beautiful bushland setting just off the motorway so it's very easy to find. The entry fee is very low - and the kids loved the place.
This is a compact historical village, comprising about 20 old buildings from the Pioneer era.Admission costs AUD 6 for adults and AUD 2.50 for children. There's a cafe next door. The village is run and maintained by local volunteers who are interested in preserving the area's history. You can walk through various old buildings, which are furnished and decorated appropriately for the era. It's an interesting place to visit if you're in the area, or if you're driving between Brisbane and the Gold Coast. While easy to find, it is located off the main highway. It's suitable for children.Worth a visit if you're interested in this kind of thing.
Massive train track chips which were in a beer batter! Absolutely delicious served with yummy dip! Great homemade food. Lovely staff.
