Everyone was happy to see a water park at Bowen but it should have been made larger, with separate area for younger children, it is a great facility but only a small group of children can play on it at a time and with the many hot days we have here, would have made sense, For parents to supervise their children there is limited share around the water park. if wanting to attend come early in the day and then have lunch on the foreshore with some fish & chips but really don't bother during school holidays it is taken over by older children and smaller ones can be hurt.
On a long drive from Townsville to Airlie Beach this is a good place to stop to,let the kids cool down. It isn't as large as the park in Townsville but it probably fits the size of the town. It is two slides and a huge bucket of water. There are some water spraying spouts. The whole thing does look like it needs a bit of yearly maintenance and a clean up. There is also a nearby playground, and the whole thing is on the waterfront. It is all free. One problem was there didn't seem to be np anywhere nearby for adults to get the necessary coffee (or anything) on the long drive.
This is a great water park on the harbour, with slides, sprays, fountains, bucket, it has everything to keep from the smallest kids to the bigger ones happy for hours. All free, it is just on the waterfront, loads of seats for mums and dads and nearby is a playground and BBQs in the shade. There is no lifeguard A great way to break the journey and let the kids blow off steam or spend th afternoon.
This is an excellent attraction for a small town and I wish we had one in Ingham. The park is always clean, fresh and well maintained. It has two slides, red fast, blue slow, and suitable for all ages. Have seen many adults come sliding down with a big grin on their faces! The water bucket is the star feature along with water cannons, mushrooms, jelly fish fountains and a multitude of sprays that are activated by pushing a button and on a timer. We didn't find that out until a few visits had taken place and we were so impressed with the basic options. Good on Bowen Council for having the forethought to provide such a great service to their community.
Great place to have fun with the kids - good for smaller children as well. Plenty of shady places to have a picnic.
This is a great place to take the kids for a day. But check the weather for the wind. If that wind is up, it can be very cold.
Bowen what a great water park. What fun, it's free, colourful and so much fun. Nice park beside it with great wheel chair swing.
The free Water Park that is right on Front Beach is open daily and is just a load of fun for all the Kids and a perfect spot for a picnic or make use of the free council controlled electric BBQues. The Front beach park also has a playground and a very extensive Skate Park set in this magic harbour location.
Bowen is very lucky to have this Civic Attraction.Built by the local council in 2012 it is located at Front Beach within the parkland right on the Beach. The Parkland has a Skate Park tables and electric BBQues that are beautifully maintained by the Whitsunday Regional Council. The Marina with its Seafood Shops is at the eastern end of the Parkland and the western end is our towns memorial to the Catalina Flying Boat base that was operational on this spot throughout World War Two.The historic Pier from the old Bowen Harbour is now home to the Tug Boat fleet that services the port of Abbot Point which is to the North of Bowen.Bring the Kids for a great day in these lovely Parklands.
