Fantastic experience & excellent location for a paddle! Simon was a brilliant tour guide who was very knowledgable & humorous! Even if you are new to paddling Simon breaks it down to your needs - it's a relaxed paddle, therefore novice paddlers will have no trouble with this adventure! Managed to see some dolphins & the sunset was beautiful - definitely worth checking out! Thank you 1770 Liquid Adventures!
My husband and I had our first ever kayak experience with this tour. We did the sunset tour. The views were stunning! unfortunately we didn't get to see any dolphins or turtles but that's no ones fault! It's great to have a tour guide so passionate about where he lives and the knowledge of 1770. Can't fault anything, it totally rocked!!
This was definitely the highlight of my stay in 1770, Simon our tour guide was fantastic from the moment we got there. Extremely attentive, funny and just generally made the experience even more amazing! The area we kayaked in was just beautiful in itself, let alone when the sun set. Absolutely stunning is all i can say. Simon was extremely informative, telling us lot's about the history of the area and what i loved about this trip is we didn't stay in the kayaks the entire time, Simon took us off onto this little beach where we got to walk into the national park. There we got to see as i can only describe as the 'home of butterflies'. There was 100's of them, something i had never seen in my life! As it was only an afternoon tour i did not expect any refreshments to be provided, however Simon produced cake, crisps and wine. A totally awesome surprise. These guys are only a small independent company but i HIGHLY recommend anyone stopping in 1770 your trip would not be complete without having an afternoon out with these guys. Thank you Simon and Janina!
We thoroughly enjoyed the 2.5 hour sunset tour with Simon and it became the highlight of our stay in Agnes Water. Great decision! We met our fellow kayakers on the little beach just past the 1770 Marina. Nice and easy to find with good parking. After some instructions and confidence building from Simon on the beach, we were away in our Tri Yak double kayaks to explore Round Hill Creek and the leeward side of the 1770 headland. Little wonder that the area is now a Botanical Reserve as it's a very special natural location. Simon was super friendly, helpful and full of local knowledge. We stopped first on a sand bank to stretch our legs and appreciate the 1770 scenery from a unique perspective. Then back to paddling and up to the entrance where the surf meets the creek. Here we were looking for marine life and managed to find a ray that gracefully slid away. At our second stop at Butterfly Beach, we stretched again for longer this time. We were lucky to catch the end of the butterfly season and be immersed in butterfly heaven just a short walk from the beach. Time for refreshments and to take in the views of Bustard Bay from yet another vantage point. The final leg was smooth and easy kayaking to a spot where our view of the sun setting was as good as it gets! Here we floated for a while until the sun dipped away. Then it was just a short journey back to our start. Simon took care to keep us away from moving boats and strong winds. The kayaks were sure and steady and no experience is necessary. A great way to appreciate more of 1770 - a special part of Queensland.
Had a great time on this tour. After a quick run down on canoeing we headed off . Spotted some dolphins which was great and stopped off for some light refreshments and watched the gorgeous sunset. I liked the pace which wasn't rushed so you could enjoy what was going on around you. Simon was a very good tour guide (not boring) filled us in on some of the history etc. Good value for money.
Had a great time during a sunset tour with Simon. The tour starts with a quick kayak demonstration and safety briefing. Simon adjusts the tour to your level of fitness and skills. 1770 is a very relaxed, beautiful and serene place, especially from the water. Spotted lots of wildlife and learnt some interesting facts about 1770 from Simon. He also took us to butterfly beach. This is a hidden, secluded beach with thousands of Blue Tiger butterflies when in season. It's like a fairy tale. Unfortunately we didn't spot any dolphins but we'll come back for that when the tides are right.
Awesome Experience - guide Simon extremely personable - really gave a full background to 1770 - history and wildlife - sat out among turtles on an exquisite afternoon - saw a flying eagle ray and generally prepared for a great sunset at 1770. No other way to do it. The guided tour included a glass of wine, cake and nibbles on a well sheltered beach at the entrance to the inlet. Perfect end to our time at 1770
Simon is very friendly and knowledgeable and gave our group a fantastic trip on 18th February - see their Facebook page for the photos which he posts after every trip for you to download for free.We saw plenty of wildlife and paddled with two different pods of dolphins as well as a couple of rays, as well as the amazing sunset and snacks on the beach. Well worth the money and a great trip. Also worth mentioning that it's possible to do this trip if you're traveling on the night bus as you return well before it leaves. I only had one day in 1770 so this was perfect for me.
We picked the sunset tour and weren't dissapointed, apart from the only cloud in the sky blocking the sun as it went down! We had a great couple of hours exploring the waterways by 1770, seeing several turtles, eagle rays breaching the water and a wealth of birdlife. Our guide, Simon, was a really nice guy, very informative and funny, with a real passion for what we went out to see. Throw in a glass of wine and there's no better way to see one of Australia's prettiest spots!
We went on the sunset tour, with lots of wind and the tide against us. Not many animals showed up to say hi, and it was hard work rowing to the headland to find turtles - but we had a fabulous time anyway. Our guide Simon was very knowledgeable, and kept us entertained when not much turned up and the waves were to little to try surfing. He still found us a few dolphins and two turtles which was plenty to be in awe of, and drifting home on the tide watching the sunset was divine. Well worth it even with the elements against us.
Where do I start? What a great little business run by two very competent and friendly people. My family of four took a paddle out with Janina who inspired confidence in the less able visitors and encouraged all of us to have a great morning. Her local natural history knowledge was excellent and morning tea was well worth the paddle to the 'other side' of the estuary. Bravo - I wish 1770 Liquid Adventure the success they so rightly deserve.
The sunset tour was so amazing: Simon is a great guide and animal lover. He had a lot of entertaining and interesting stories to share. We surfed the waves with our kayak, saw some dolphins, and had a nice picnic at a great spot. Our way back from this picnic spot into the sunset was a great finish for this amazing tour.We did a lot of tours during our three weeks vacation in Australia, and a lot of these tours have been really great. But Simon's sunset tour was the best! It is not only worth the money, it is also worth a detour if Seventeen Seventy was not on your original itinerary!PS: We had this tour early January 2014 and had perfect weather conditions. But we are sure that is still a lot of fun even with a cloudy sky.
Informative, casual, enjoyable. Also included a wine and munchies and a surprise. It was not cheap though.
Great family fun on water. Simon the owner and our tour guide was relaxed, informative, and patient. Our whole family loved it from our 10 year old up. Simon catered the tour to suit the weather and the age of our kids.
Although we were very unlucky with the weather and all the wildlife seemed to be hiding from us we still had a great afternoon. Simon was really passionate to share the area and his knowledge with us. Really relaxing. Thanks again Simon for taking some great photos for us and getting them posted so quickly. Will recommend.
