This is not a long walk and provides some interesting insight into the early history of Queenscliff. I particularly looked out for the house used in the Queenscliff episode of the Miss Fisher Murder Mysteries TV series. Along the walk, there are also many other interesting buildings to view that are not listed in the historic walk.
Queenscliff is a pretty town near the coast. The main streets have some beautifully maintained old buildings that give one the feeling of going back to a previous era. Worth stopping here for a short while to capture some of these buildings on your camera
With is endless streets full of history and its delightful old homes reminiscent of elegant times past the heritage walk is a real treat. The Queenscliff Historical Society was a great place to start with an array of items from times past and great pictures and video of life back in the booming 1880's when the hotels were being built and holiday makers were crossing the bay in paddlesteamers to enjoy the delights of the seaside.
Many attractions here...the beaches...lighthouse and the old fort. Lovely wide main street has is a feast of shopping and dining experiences...also catch a ferry[car/pedestrian] across the rip to the other side...Portsea/Sorrento. A great little spot...we always enjoy our visits.
Love the beauty and history of the town.It has kept its integrity and is relatively unscathed with progress. It is close enough from Melbourne to do a day trip but there are enough activities in town and along the peninsular and Great Ocean Road to stay a few days.
