The park isn't that well organized yet...not much too do up there...a little guided walk...pretty tame for true hikers...best to walk down out of the park once you get up there by metro cable and make your way to Santa Elena and some good little road side restaurants and then take the bus back down into Medellin...
Tired of hustle and bustle of Medellin? Take the Metro Cable up to Parque Arvi for a day of nature. But check before you leave the station, we made it to the top of the first gondola only to find that the last gondola to the park was closed for maintenance. There was no signage in the station of any closures at the top so we were disappointed the first time we went up. Once we arrived, the next day, we had a great time with our twin 4-year-old boys. We did a few short walks, rowed boats in a little lake, and rode horses. What little boy wouldn't enjoy doing all of that in one day? Our boys loved their first gondola rides and it was interesting to get a peek of the poorer parts of town from the our safe gondola car. There are restroom facilities all over the park but remember it's a nature area so they are not available at every turn. The food is a little on the pricey side, and not the best you'll find. Bring lunch and water and you'll be set for the day. I highly recommend a day at Parque Arvi if you're travelling with kids.
very ecofriendly and nice just bring a jacket coz its a bit colder than I was expected the guides are very good but they don't speak much english, but its ok the cable car is really nice and provide an excellent view of the forest
I went to the park unknowingly. I took the cable car up so I could get pictures of the city only to find out that there is an entire park just over the mountain top. I would have liked to have more time to explore. It's a beautiful area that you never expect would be so near the city. A big forest where they now have some ecotourism and of course food area and craft shops. It was hard to get really good pictures of the city because taking pictures through the cable car windows wasn't also the best and you really have to stop at a station along the way and walk to viewing points to get good photos.
We loved it. Great vendors up there. Tried local fruits, wine, and local fare. Walked around and enjoyed a sunny day up there.
After the heat and bustle of Medellin, parque Arvi is a sanctuary. Get there via the cable car to Santa Domingo, and then another cable to the park. Beware - It's closed on Mondays, as we found out the hard way. If you like walking then you could easily spend a whole day in the park. If you don't have much time just go there for the spectacular ride over the shanty towns and then into the temperate parkland above.
We took the extended MetroCable to Park Arví and enjoyed a beautiful day. There was a handcraft and food fair going on which allowed us to stock up on souvenirs and lunch. A lot of activities right at the top of the gondola provided fun for families - puzzles, bean bag darts, giant floor games, and traditional Colombian games. I was tad chilly, but warmed up soon enough. Remember, the gondola to Parque Arví does not start operating until 9:30a.
its a nice place to make a connection with the nature. there are guides that provide tours totally free. bring camera, hoodies and comfortable shoes.
It is a natural park near to Medellín, a water reserve landscape where you can walk between nature for hours, there are many outdoor activities.
If you want to make use of the park, please use a guide if you don't know where you are going. The park is large, and once you get off the cable car, it is not obvious where to go next. We walked over to the road and caught a bus to Piedras Blancas, where we had lunch (in exchange for an entrance fee) and walked around. It is a pretty area to walk around, but no one explains that you have to buy your ticket for the butterfly house and the insect exhibit at the restaurant and by the time we had walked to them, we were not walking back for another ticket. Get there early, as figuring out what to do and wandering the trails really burns thru the time.
There are free guided walks through the park... skip it. It takes 45 minutes to walk a 15 minute walk. You do learn a few cool things but it's all in Spanish, so if your Spanish isn't good you will be bored. The adventure park ends up costing heaps of money so think about that... there is a cool butterfly park. There aren't good walking paths through the park so try not to get lost!
You get off the Metro Cable and change to a separate Cable with additional charge to get to the park. Long beautiful ride, but the park is very spread out, not really walkable and badly laid out. The information desk wasn't even attended. Stay in the city.
We took the cable car at Acevedo's Metro Station and later, in Santo Domingo's Cable Car Station we transferred to Parque Arví. The ride was amazing with a beautiful natural view. Once we got there, we had to define where to start because the park is so big and has a lots of things to do. Don't miss the ride in the Chiva bus and neither to go to Comfame. Get there very early in the morning.
The ride all the way there it's very nice , good view of the city , you can feel the fresh air , it's a must see if your in Medellin
If you are going via the cable car in the holiday period make sure you turn up early. We arrived at the second cable car around midday and the guard just closed the gate saying the park was full. If we would of been 10 people earlier we would of got in. The cable car trip was worth it though.
