This monument is in the town square right across from the Hotel Cabo de Hornos. A lot of events take place there including the weekly clothing fair (good place to by woolen clothing). There are also Folklore dancing exhibits. The hotel can inform you of the event schedule. A good site for photos.

The statue is located in the main square of the city and is always surrounded by a lot of tourists, merchants selling souvenirs and frequent performances by local groups.

Located at the park across from the Cathedral, the monument of Hernando de Magallanes or Ferdinand Magellan is the main attraction of this park. Our tour guide informed us that if one kisses the foot of the statue, one would surely go back to Punta Arenas. It was cold, drizzling and windy; none in our group took up the challenge. From my History class I learned that a certain chieftain in Cebu, Philippines killed Magellan when he and his crew landed there in the 15th Century. I did not know that they also went to Chile. Perhaps he went to the Philippines after going to Punta Arenas, thus they have his statue at the park. What the Philippines has is the cross (tourist attraction at the city center of Cebu) that Magellan supposedly put down in the ground when he and his men prayed after landing in Cebu. History lessons anyone?

This statue is in the main plaza. While you're here, check out the many vendors selling souvenirs, hats, and scarves and the tourism office.

Este monumento está en la Plaza de Armas de la ciudad y se die que si le das un beso al pie del indio, vuelves. Lo más probable es que uno recorra ese sector, así que se puede sacar la foto de rigor y hacer el ritual para volver. 2 minutos y listo.

Considerando que a cidade de Punta Arenas não possui muitos pontos turísticos, vale a pena visitar esse local.

プンタ・アレーナスの中心であるアルマス広場の中心にある銅像。地元で財をなした名士ホセ・メネンデスの寄附によって制作されたもので、マゼラン海峡発見４００年目を記念したものだそうです。建立当時としては、マゼランの足もとに先住民像を置くのは当然だったでしょうが、現在ではあまり評判がよくないそうです。先住民は２人が見られますが、そのうちの一人の足が手の届くところにあることから、その足を触ると縁起がいいとか、幸運に恵まれるとかで、ぴかぴかに光っています。公園内には数多くの屋台店が出ていて、地元のウール産品などを売っています。

Localizado no parque em frente à Catedral, o monumento de Hernando de Magallanes ou Fernão de Magalhães é a principal atração deste parque.

Se encuentra en la plaza principal de Punta Arenas, es un monumento muy bonito (nada extraordinario) y dicen que si besas su pie de seguro volverás a visitar aquel lugar encantador...

Monumento que no se puede pasar por alto, se ubica en el centro de la plaza de armas de Punta Arenas. Aprovechar a ver lo que venden los artesanos y después cruzar al Hotel José Nogueira por un Pisco Sour!!

Bem no centro da cidade, certamente vc irá passar por esse monumento... ao redor diversos ambulantes vendes souvenires locais...

Escultura dedicada al conquistador Fernando de Magallanes.Se dice que quien besa o toca el pie del patagón algún día volverá. Todo el mundo se toma una foto ahí.Está en medio de la plaza Muñoz Gameto.Es una escultura bonita.

Se homenajea no solo al navegante Hernando de Magallanes, sino tambien a la tradicion indigena, al Indio Patagón. Los Patagones, eran quienes poblaron estas tierras magallanicas, y se les describia asi, por la enorme pisada de sus pies.La escultura se encuentra en pleno centro en la Plaza de Armas

Existe la tradición de tocar el pie del indio, para volver a Punta Arenas. Está en pleno centro de la ciudad, por lo que es fácil de visitar, a su alrededor hay muchos locales de artesanos.

si pasan por allí no duden en sacar fotos..esta cerca del centro en plena plaza allí deben pasar y tocar el pie del indio.
