Great place to see lots of parrots, monkeys, fish, snakes ect, and to learn more about bolivian animals very cheap to get in and the place is kept up nicely if you like a zoo you can't miss going. Theres not a whole lot of animals as its a rather small zoo but you can't beat it for the cost

There are tons of birds, but other then that there are not a lot of other animals. It looks like it's tired . . . all the cages and living areas are worn, it's not kept up real well, and the place is dirty. We have gone 4 or 5 times now because it's not very expensive and because our kids like it since they don't really know what a great Zoo is.

I have seen a lot of zoos around the world and this is by far the worst. Cages for most animals here are way to small. some of the birds can't even spread there wings. The people that run the place are not concerned with animal conditions in the slightest. I would not recommend people visit here unless they are extremely bored.

Interesting collection if animals native to South America. Jaguars cages were to small and very depressing. Lots of free roaming agputis and sloths. Lots of birds

Very nice collection of primates, birds (it had the largest condor I had ever seen) and snakes. The tiger as very impressive too. The zoo is easy to get to (we took a taxi, and it took us 10 minutes from the city centre to arrive).

Sadly I believe that this zoo should be shut down. Animals are in terrible condition. The infrastructure is falling apart. It is great to be able to see local fauna but the cost (to nature) is too high.

Went here with low expectations but was pleasantly suprised it was a nice south American zoo. It is a shame that some animals get huge enclosures and some really small they really need to put the admission price up a little to upgrade some of the enclosures. All in all we had a great day

Having been told by the moronic guards that we could not come into the zoo because the ticket vendor was on lunch (why did they have no-one to take the ticket money when the zoo was still open, and why did the guards not sell the tickets when there were at least 4 people sitting in the ticket booth??), we eventually got inside. The zoo was much better than we anticipated at first, and we appreciated the large aviary along with the cleanliness of the cages holding the smaller birds and mammals. Even the first few jaguar cages we saw seemed OK, but after a while we realized that the zoo simply has too many animals to look after. A dozen big cats lie on concrete floors, or pace up and down foaming at the mouth in abject boredom. Numerous large birds of prey are in cages way too small for them, and the Bolivian visitors do not help matters when they feed the animals crisps and chips, and throw trash into the cages for fun. This zoo, like most zoos, is the only way most people will get to see these animals (they have Giant Anteaters and several Jaguars and Pumas), but it left a bad taste in the mouth. We even shed a little tear over the state of some of the bigger mammals - they are blatantly unhappy - and at 10 Bolivianos for the entrance fee - things are not looking set to improve.

The zoo is very popular and has an interesting diversity, but it doesn't seem there is any logic in the display of the animals. There is pedagogy in the trail, very few explanations of what you're looking at.And more importantly, the wild animals (big cats, bear, vultures) are squeezed in far too small spaces. Not well equipped either.I was upset I gave them my money as apparently they don't use it for their animals.

I didn't expect european standards for sure, but I was still let down a little - as a lot of the animals were quite apathetic. I was told that this may be attributable to the cold weather (20 deg Celsius) which kind of makes sense. The price was fair (10bob) and the size good to spend an hour or two. If you're in Santa Cruz, you should go there - on a sunny day if you can.

The animals have a really small and boring prison! The guests feed and touch the animals. No people which work in the zoo looks for the animals and the security of them. So so bad!! And the guests have no respect of them. Awful!

I've been there twice over the years. They display a good variety of Bolivian fauna. Settings are well done and a lot are in open areas. The bird area is a walk among our feathered dwellers on earth.

As zoos go, this is a fairly small one, but it has animals found in the Amazona. The range of birds is overwhelming. Also, mammals and snakes and other creatures from the Amazon make this an interesting zoo.

We spent an hour or so here as part of a city tour (filling in 1/2 day before our overnight train to the Brazilian border). Nice little zoo, well laid out in surprisingly citified location. Lots of big cats which are easy to watch (leopards, pumas etc), many birds (vultures, condors, eagles, tucans etc etc), and interesting animals. All close up and visible and active when we were there. Make sure you see the sloths in the trees - you may need to ask a security guard or one of the maintenance staff which tress they are currently gracing as they are pretty difficult to find otherwise.

Its a zoo. Its Santa Cruz. Santa Cruz used to have sloths at the plaza, but they moved them all, and now you only can find them in the zoo. And as lazy as the sloths, are the rest of the animals. You see the animals, because they are in small cages. but they sleep. Because there is nothing else for them to do. And you feel bad for the lamas, which you naturally in more cooler places, probably sweating more than you do.But the Perezosos are interesting to watch. And they climb/hang around free in all the trees. Fee is not too much, think that the money will go to better cages for the animals, and enjoy the sloth hunt. And yeah, you could always by some fast food, then through the trash down to some of the animals. But please don't. The animals only don't bite you, because they are too lazy to.
