this is a must see/do when visiting Santa Cruz, the nature, the natural pools, waterfalls, breathtaking flora and fauna make it an experience you won't forget
Guembe is a remarkable spot - unique in Bolivia and probably South America in combining a water pool-themed resort atmosphere with conservation awareness, general cleanliness, and the overall superb maintenance of a huge property - located just 20 minutes from the city of Santa Cruz. A "must" if you like butterflies, tropical birds and parrots, and/or lounging by a waterfall or pool. As a friend pointed out, you leave your worries behind as the place feels very safe, in both a personal safety and property sense, which makes it ideal for families, such as ours, visiting Santa Cruz with young children. Definitely go early in the day to get your money's worth and before the place fills up. Entrance is not cheap by Bolivian standards, but worth it.
Guembe is a wonderful escape from a hot day. Great assortment of pools, seats in tree shade, sandy bottom poolets, music at a lowish volume... Very relaxingRestaurant Sunday brunch looks great if you are the type of person who likes to eat a lot for lunch. The snack bars are mostly crap fast food types. Drinks are overpriced- but in a Bolivia fashion so cheap for the US. Entrance is expensive for Bolivia, but cheap for the world.
This is a really nice place. They have a really big variety of animals and butterflies. The pools are amazing too, and the food is delicious.I'd highly recommend this place if visiting Santa Cruz.
This is one of the most unique experiences for world travelers in Santa Cruz and a must see tourist attraction. You will see rare species of butterflies. take several hours for this destination. they also have cabins for rent and a beach for relaxing along the river and picnic tables.
beautiful, aviary and monkey island and swimming all greatlunch a little pricey as only buffet available
What a beautiful place- my family and I had a lovely day there. I highly recommend it. The food was very good. The gardens were breathtaking, and so is the aviary. A must-see if you're in the Santa Cruz area! Be sure to bring the sun block and your own towels for the pool!
After reading the reviews about this park , we decided to visit it too. The price indeed, is/was incredible high . 150Bs each and not really sure what we can expect. After paying our backpack was checked by security. All food and drinks are forbidden inside the park to bring from outside.... There are different place to have lunch. We got a buffet offered at the restaurant. What I saw looked great, but they charge 100Bs for each person. This was too much for our budget, especially when u can get lunch even at the pools. There we paid 95Bs for both including softdrinks! The park itself offers a lot for photographers and people loving nature. So many animals in reality and under good conditions. You even can climb up to get a breathtaking view above all the trees . Feeling like a bird. Finally we joined a enormous large pool area. Different types and depths fitting all needs of their guests. Water temperature was great , enough sun loungers , good music to listen. The pools are equipped with guards . Recommended place .
I have been to Guembe several times now over the past five years and I always leave impressed. Yes, it is pricey for Bolivia, but for approximately 20 dollars, you get a lovely, green park, a large aviary with friendly, exotic birds (the toucans are the best), nature trails, kayaks and your choice of lovely, sand-bottomed pools. I have never stayed overnight - a daytrip has always been sufficient. I am also glad to say that Guembe is very well-maintained. There is no trash to be seen on the ground, which is quite impressive for Bolivia, and it does not feel overcrowded or old.
Wonderful spot to learn more about nature and see very pretty animals its much more then just a place to see butterflys. Theres something for everyone to enjoy from the butterflys to the pools and paddle boats to horse rides and great food a outing the whole family can enjoy
The place itself is rustic and beautiful. Walking through the aviary full of happy, healthy birds was a delight. So was the butterfly farm and the orchids. The pools were clean but packed to the max. This is not a place to relax quietly by the poolside, but if you like music and a hopping and bopping atmosphere then this is the place for you. Unfortunately the staff let the place down. It takes them at least 20 minutes to get you a drink. They had a very limited menu of food and alcohol. Most of the food and drink was out of stock which made it even worse. The food quality was very poor. Breakfast was positively disgusting. We asked for information regarding places of interest, good restaurants etc. none of the staff knew of anywhere !! So we had to spend precious time on the Internet looking ourselves as the staff were not willing to help. We were staying over the new year period and asked on several occasions if there would be live music etc to celebrate the new year. None of the staff knew what was happening !!! Eventually we asked again in the morning of the 31st in desperation. Eventually they said that nothing would be happening. When we said that we had paid an extra $200 to celebrate new year with them they just shrugged their shoulders. Now we are in the prosess of looking for somewhere else. We will not be coming back. This is ok for a few hours but not five days.
Great for a hot sunny day. It costs a lot to take a taxi there and back, plus the 150 bolivianos to get in, plus overpriced food and beer.
I definitely recommend this place, it is the best place in Santa cruz to get in contact with nature, you can relax on the more than 7 pools, plus you can watch almost in front of you several kinds of birds, and butterflies.
They have a little of everything here. Food, swimming, walking paths through nature, butterfly dome, bird dome, kids play areas, etc. We've gone 3 times now, it's not cheap, and we noticed the price has more then tripled since the first time we went years ago, but it was a really nice escape from the city.
It's a bit expensive to go, but it is definitely worth a visit, especially with kids. The pools are incredible, natural like pols and many of them. They also have kayaking available in the natural pond. Butterflies, giant bird and butterfly watching cages as well as natural treks. hey have a hotel available as well.
