Recommended to vizit it. Here you can see the whole town. Beautiful mountains add romatic mood to this landscape. I also like so much that there are no windows, you can feel wind during looking around and it's really cool. For hiking lovers it will be interesting.Near the tower there is children's railway. So if you're tired or just like little old trains you can use it. Interesting that this railroad for children was built due to local miners. But now it's not quite popular among children because of computers and stuff.. what a pity.In the tower there is a cafe. Prices are rather high, but food is really tasty. Staff very friendly and open-hearted. And of course beautiful views through the windows
Nice location on the top of Misina hill, dominating the Mecsek, above Pécs city. In good weather conditions, especially after rains when the air is clear, you can see the mountains near the Balaton lake too. Serpentin roads to there, free parking, but beware of thieves, close the doors, and don't left anything in the cabin. There is a bus option to reach it, and if you likes hiking, you can go by walk too.The building itself is 40 yrs old without renovation, and in the restaurant the time has stopped too... You can enjoy the spectacular views from two levels, the upper is opened, it's windy, and the restaurant's level has windows around; from here you can see the area in total silence. The elevator's price isn't so expensive. This retro tower worth a trip!
It is a nice view from tho terrace on 70 meter high , but the venue is a bit poor of services. Othevise there is a nice walking tour - the Rotary round near to that. Combine them for a nice event !
An easy hike from the city, taking about 1 hour 30 minutes, the TV tower provides a beautiful view of the green countryside. It cost about 1000 Forints to take the lift to the top each. There is a restaraunt with toilets at the top.
The restaurant was old fashioned, but the food was very delicious, and a really big size. The waiters were friendly.
Travel there by taxi the price not too bad for taxi fare. Paid to go in.The lifts took us up and lovely amazing view of Southern Hungary fields and land Around. Can see the Pecs town below.Got WC and Café up there. Then we took the last bus back down into town. Bus number 35 that take you up and down. No other bus. Made in Communist era but interesting to look at the structure.
Actually, this TV Tower was the best experience for me in Pecs. The panorama is beautiful. You can see the entire city and also the mountains of nearby Northern Croatia if the weather is clear. You can drink some coffee or beer at the restaurant. The road to the tower is also very nice, with some outlook points.
Wonderful road up the hill. Incredible views from the tower. Unfortunately we visited on a windy and rainy day so only stayed outside for a few mins. Highly recommended visit.
It was a symbol of the 70ies. Opened in 1973 and was and still is the non-official symbol of Pécs. Easy to reach by car, 10 minutes from the city center. Free parking next to the tower. The entry ticket price is correct (a bit more then 3 euros / adult) You have only one option to go up, with the old elevator and with its responsible "driver". You cannot use the elevator alone.... Up to the tower you have one of the most scenic and beautiful panorama of Hungary. To the north you see the Mecsek hills, "Tubes", "Zengő" as the top of the hills. In the south you see the town, the Villany-hills are behind, and also Croatia a bit far away. Take a telescope with you to catch the buildings of the inner town. Really wonderful!!!There is a restaurant at the top, with nice choice of ice-creams. For 3 euros you have a nice cup, "Pinocchio cup" for children for 4 euros. Try the famous Hungarian dessert the " gesztenyepüré" which is a very nice kind of marron dessert. For 650 HUF/2013 price cca.2.5 euros. Worth it. Segafredo caffe.
It is one of those post communist era infrastructures, solid, big but no deluxe. Even so the view is amazing. I had a car so access was not a problem, the drive from town takes you through a forrest with paths and picnic spots. Several degrees cooler than the town. Also unusually for tourist places like this. The cafe in the tower is good. I had a traditional Hungarian soup: rangers soup, sort of meaty with mushroom and cream. I would recommend. Also natural lemonade. Not many tourists and its a weekend at the end of June. Only Hungarians, Pec's is certainly an area to discover. Around three hours drive south of Budapest. One difficulty is that not much English is spoken and signs tend to be only in Hungarian, so I would recommend a good navigation app for your phone.
If you have a car its a bonus, if you can cycle its great for your health, if you walk it take plenty of water with you as it is not for the faint hearted with being on top of Pecs.It is a TV tower that also has a cafe attached to it with great views over Pecs. It is worth stopping on the way up too to take great photos. My advice is not to go up there in the evening alone though as it can get a bit scary and also one can get lost.
It was okay - note to traveller about theft was a turn off. We didn't go up the tower but did drive up to it, looked at the view and went back down
Great views. Lovely restaurant at the top - DO NOT go on the balcony outside when it is windy!!
It's one of those ugly concrete remnants of communist period but it's cheap and the views are great. Word of warning, though: do not leave your car unattended or you might find it broken into and everything taken when you get back. Take the warning signs seriously.
The views are fantastic. Talk to the locals they will explain the nearby mines, opposite from the view of Pecs. Historical artifacts dating back ? millions? of years. Wood artifacts native to ONLY Africa, found nearby and preserved. The great flood of Noah fame?
