This is a long straight beach which can be accessed by a beach/sea paddle all the way to/from Laganas. Vet romantic with the hills in the background, and beautiful clean sea. Sand is soft and clean and this is a great walk at the end of the day.

We spent 2 weeks in Kalamaki staying at the Roseland hotel which is about a 5 min walk from the beach. When we had a day down the beach we hired the sunbeds infront of the Kalamaki Beach Taverna, but get there early as the sun worshipers were on them at the crack of dawn! We used to get down with the towels then go for a walk onto Laganas (its ok in the morning!) and back. Getting down the beach early is the secret to seeing the baby turtles scurry on down to their new home. We were here in early September so we did not see any Adult turtles nesting but we saw the baby turtles. You cannot go on the beach before 7am, but if you try get down there for between 8-9am and walk along towards Laganas, every morning there was some volunteers from Archelon checking the nests out and releasing the baby turtles. You can help by casting your shadow over the turtles, this is because the follow the light, they normally hatch overnight and follow the moons reflection off the water down to their new home, so casting the shadow helps them follow the brightness of the sun reflecting off the sea but not the rays direct from the sun. Alot of people were looking for information on when to see the turtles etc. Hope this helps.

Lovely clean beach, shallow water, no waves, turtle eggs are protected so no jet skis or speed boats, great for relaxing, sun beds and umbrellas available but you can't put up your own because of the eggs

Nice sandy beach you may even catch the turtles nesting. Sea warm and clear do have to pay for loungers but nice beach to visit food available too

This beach is a lovely quiet sandy one, close to Kalamaki so you can go there for lunch if you'd like to. The Crystal beach hotel is close by if you want to retreat there for a drink or lunch (prices a little more than Kalamaki but you do have a lovely view of the sea/beach from the terrace alternatively there is a small drink/food shack just behind the beach area. The beach is sandy & shallow for a long way out (80 ft out about 2ft deep) if you take some bread there are lots of small fish in the bay you can feed. This is a turtle conservation area, no walking or digging to the rear area so there are limited sunbeds at the front of the beach which cost 7E for 2 beds & a brolly all day. The airport is nearby but the small amount of noise made is not too troubling & quickly gone (tbh its quite nice seeing them come in to land!) kids love it especially if you walk towards Laganas for about 1.5m you can stand under the flight path!!

This is a great beach situated just a short walk fr our accommodation clean tidy and the water is too We would recommend getting down early if you want a bed €7 for the whole day within easy reach of the sea as the sand can be very hot on the feet. Tazos snack bar just off the beach is superb snacks drinks at very reasonable prices. All in all a very clean beach due to it being a turtle nesting area would recommend of you don't have the means to travel to other parts of this superb island which is special to my wife and I as it is where we got married.

Good Family resort, beach clean.Plenty of restaurants to pick from. Try Michaelos, Escape, and the Merlis these are all good restaurants

Lovely beach , was to busy when we went back end of August and 2 sun beads and parasol was only 7 euros for the day . Was nice not to have the noise of the watersports . Turtle protected beach ,we were lucky to see 3 baby turtles whilst her . The sea was warm and shallow .Toilet and shower facilities at the Kalamaki Tavern on beach and also nice for a drink or snack .

Spent 2 weeks holidaying on this beach. Crystal blue waters and golden sands. Also rode horses from the Happy Horses yard amongst the beach and trees. Absolutely stunning.

This beach was surprisingly empty except near Laganas. There supplied sunbeds at 7 euro a day (and good new ones too), but no toilets except in one Taverna and plastic porta-loo at one end.The Beach has lots of little tripods that mark turtle eggs that you are warned to avoid. There are boards with pictures of turtles and euro amounts for donations. My mate asked if it was a menu and got an astonished NO!Great beach with stretches of half a mile or more with no sun beds of hotels near the beach - just scrubland. Recommended!

Kalamaki beach is certainly a five star! It's clean and neat due to it's protection of the carretta carretta turtle. If you carry on away from laganas beach you will find salt rocks overhanging the sea, such a beautiful sight!

Lovely beach although you have to pay for the sun loungers which was 3.50 euros each it was very quiet probably to the time of year when we went

The beach was lovely, clean, peaceful and the sea was really safe and calm, with lots of fish to feed.
