If your path ever leads you to Bad Sächingen in Germany, please do not leave without first visiting the grounds of Schloss Schnau!! We did not visit the museum but we walked around the beautiful gardens which are sooo well cared for, we had a look at the Rhine again and then we had coffee and cake at the sweetest cafe/ pavillion on the grounds, facing the river. The sun was shining and all was just glorious. We accidentally came upon this treasure as we walked through the town enjoying the old houses and little streets. And, this is why I decided I MUST tell others not to miss out. The town boasts the oldest standing wooden bridge in Europe and the longest of it's kind, so people do come to visit the bridge, as we have done before. But, Scloss Schonau is just as much worthy of a visit!!The gardens and the buildings are maintained immaculately. A big well done to the Municipality for caring enough!!!

As a professional trumpeter, this museum has been on my list for a long time. The collection contains trumpets throughout the great range of its history, from 1664 to the present. You'll see natural trumpets and keyed trumpets and bugles made before the invention of the valve in the early 19th century. There are examples of the many kinds of valved trumpets that came with this new technology. There are also many oddly shaped and experimental trumpets. You will also see many paintings, posters, cartoons, and lithographs with trumpets. If you don't know, there is a great German legend about The Trumpeter of Bad Säckingen, which is why the exhibit is here.
