The castle itself was as I remember it! Felt great to be where Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade was filmed. However... the inside of the castle on the film was in England somewhere, so don't expect the interior to match.There was the possibility of a tour but only in German. Still! The highlight of my trip!

Visited the Schloss Burresheim castle recently while in Germany for the fist time with my daughter. they only had german tours but we were ok with that, so we went along with a small group of german tourists. The castle was well kept. We found the tour very interesting even with the language barrier. My daughter had 3 yrs German in school and our tour guide said he had 2 yrs english so he did try to make sure we had an understanding of the history of the castle. And later on my daughter tried to fill me in on what she understood that i may have missed. Worth a visit if you love castles as much as I do.

We had a wonderful tour guide. There were only four of us in our group, all English speakers. The tour guide did not speak English, but he was very patient and spoke slowly. He went out of his way to make sure I understood and could translate for our group, even with my limited German. If I did not understand he would repeat what he said trying different words to help me understand. The tour lasted an hour and included lots of great information that was not in the English booklet that they gave us for free. He also recommended a great restaurant for us after our tour that we loved. The castle itself is very unique and well preserved with original furnishings. I thought the price was also very reasonable for the tour we were given.

By rights, I should be telling you that this castle was amazing and give it 5 stars. I can't do that because we had a terrible visit. The castle has the most interesting entrance through a covered barbican which is so cool I was totally geeking out. The inner courtyard was equally cool. I admired the haphazard architecture of a real castle that had never been destroyed and had seen several additions hundreds of years apart that spoke of vastly different styles and technology. Wow. 45 minutes later, as we waited for our tour to begin, I was not much in awe anymore. We were the only people there for 42 minutes, until a German family arrived. Then our guide came right out and began the tour exclusively in German. No English. Which I think is a big mistake in a state owned castle that is trying to promote tourism. So maybe the tour was interesting, I can't say for sure. The building was like a rat warren inside (in a good way) with rooms tacked onto rooms and staircases going up just to come back down. I do love that kind of thing. But the tour seemed to cut short and we moved way to fast. There were more rooms that I know we were supposed to visit, but suddenly we were being ushered out. I was miffed. Then, because I wanted to take pictures but was not allowed and I actually wanted to learn something about the castle we just toured, I went to the office to buy a book. But I could not. The office worker shut his door in my face and shooed us out of the castle with haste saying, "No more, we close." It was just a bit past 4:00 pm and the castle was not due to close until 5:00 PM and this lazy jerk would not take 5 minutes to sell me a book. I wish I knew how to curse in German because this guy would have had an earful. I plan to write to the RhinelandPfalz Generaldirektion Kulturelles Erbe and get my damn book. I am still angry.

I Think that their are better Schlosses in the area but always worth a visit but must admit that the views are spectacular on a clear day

Located at the junction of two little rivers Schloss Bürresheim is one of the old residences of the Archbishop of Trier. As one of the few castles in the area it survived the centuries without major damage. The exhibits give an exciting insight into life several centuries back in time. Great fun for the whole family, and children are usually fascinated by the old knights' armors.There is also one curiosity about this castle: it was divided into two parts. Besides the Trier part, the Archbishop of Cologne claimed rights on the property, too. Yet, this part is nowadays in ruins.Parking lots are located directly at the facilities. Travelling with public transport is possible, but the busses do not run very frequently.

Замок расположен около небольшого городка Майен в земле Райенланд-Пфальц. Он никогда не разрушался, никем не завоевывался, только строился с 12 по 19 век. Вход на территорию замка бесплатный, парковка тоже. Внутрь можно попасть только с экскурсией. Вход 4 евро для взрослого. Чтобы купить билет, нужно позвонить в заонок кассиру, который и экскурмовод по совместительству. Внутри очень интересная экспозиция, то как жили его прежние владельцы. К сожалению, фотографировать внутри нельзя. Экскурсии проводятся только на немецком. Около замка есть небольшой сад. Ресторана в замке нет, только культурная программа. Но посетить замок стоит, особенно если любите подобные мероприятия

Wie schon zwei Bewerter auf dieser Seite schreiben, ist es zwar eine schöne Burg, aber die Führung muss nicht unbedingt ebenso angenehm sein. Ein "Möchtegern-Burgherr" hat zwar einiges gut erklärt, wenn auch etwas heruntergerasselt. Ermahnungen, nichts anzufassen, kamen nicht nur mehrfach, sondern eben in einem unfreundlichen Ton. Schade eigentlich.

Schade das der Garten verschlossen ist und man so keine ( Poster Aufnahme ) machen kann.Parkplatz und Ausschilderung in guter Qualität. Ein Ort den man besuchen sollte.

Das Schloss kann nur geführt besichtigt werden, Probleme mit dem Personal hatten wir nicht, wir waren mit 3 Kindern unterwegs 6-9 Jahre. Am Anfang der Führung wurde uns gesagt, dass man nichts anfassen sollte und, dass Fotos machen nicht erlaubt ist, was durchaus üblich ist. Die Führung fand ich ganz gut, sie dauerte ca. 1 Std., es wurde ausführlich über die Geschichte des Schlosses berichtet, nach jeder Ausführung des Führers konnte man Fragen stellen. Das besondere and Schloss ist, dass es nie zerstört wurde.Zum Schloss gehören zwei kleine Gärten, die man leider nicht betreten kann, deshalb ein Punktabzug.In der Umgebung um das Schloss lässt schön wandern, und in ca. 3km. Entfernung liegt Mayen mit der Genovevaburg.

Das Schloss ist an sich sehr schön. Die zwei Gärten/Parkanlagen lassen sich nicht begehen und sind verschlossen.Vor der Führung wird man mehrfach vom Personal angesprochen, dass die Kinder sich ruhig verhalten mögen und nicht stören sollen. Wir hatten unseren Sohn mit (3 Jahre alt) und waren über die Aussage so enttäuscht, dass wir mitten in der Führung selbige abgebrochen haben. Meinen Hinweis an das nette Personal, dass man Kinder in der Führung gleich verbieten könne, wurde mit dem Kommentar "Das dürfen wir nicht" beantwortet.Also an alle, die das Schloss besichtigen wollen der Hinweis, seine Kleinkinder zu Hause zu lassen.

War hier im Juni dieses Jahres mal hingefahren. Die Burg liegt sehr Schön in einem Tal der Eifelregion.Mir gefiel diese Burg, weil noch ziemlich alles erhalten ist. Die Burg ist immer noch begehbar. Sie ist mit Mittelalterlichen Möbeln versehen, wobei nur einige geringe Stücke Original zur Burg gehören.Das einzige Problem war, das der Eintritt ein Wenig Teuer ist. 6 Euro pro Person ist nicht ohne. Zumal man keine Bilder im inneren der Burg machen darf. Die Besichtigung ist leider auch nur mit Führung zu machen.Die Burg hat einen netten Garten, welcher aber auch nicht Zugänglich ist.

Meine Tochter brachte uns auf die Idee, zusammen das Schloss Bürresheim zu besuchen. Obwohl wir nicht weit entfernt von Mayen wohnen, war mir dieses Schloss doch unbekannt. Im Gegensatz zur Genovevaburg in dere Innenstadt, hört man von diesem Schloss nichts. Das liegt vielleicht auch an der LAge. Von Mayen aus muss man ein Stück weit auf der L 83 nach St. Johannes fahren. (Ein längerer Spaziergang wäre aber sicher auch möglich.)Wir fuhren unter der Woche hin und waren dennoch überrascht, wie wenige Besucher dort waren (eigentlich Hochsaison). Auch saß am Anfang noch niemand am Ticketschalter. Aber nach einigen Minuten des Wartens erschien jemand, um uns die Tickets zu verkaufen. (Da merkt man sie wieder, die Eifeler Gemütlichkeit). In letzter Minute vor Führungsbeginn erschien noch eine größere Gruppe Motorradfahrer, sodass die Gruppe dann doch so klein war. Das war aber nicht schlimm. Man konnte sich trotzdem alles ansehen, während der Burgführer uns durch die einzelnen Räume brachte und uns gleichzeitig die Geschichte der Burgbewohner und ihre Beziehungen zum Umland sowie auch eine größere Bedeutung für die Geschichte nahe brachte. Die Räume sind wirklich noch original. Das fühlt man auch - noch mehr als in den meisten anderen Burgen. Schloss Bürresheim hat bei mir einen bleibenden Eindruck hinterlassen. Gerade auch die Rüstkammer fand ich besonders beeindruckend. Insgesamt ein lohnenswerter Ausflug.
