这是教堂面向旧城区中心的共和广场，具有独特风格的钟楼。它不象教堂的塔，最上面枪眼的结构更象城堡的塔。我们到了旧城区中心的共和广场，一下小巴士就被它吸引住了。教堂建于12世纪，有罗曼式风格，感觉有点古老。真正进去看是第二天早晨，里面已经有几个信徒在主祭坛前祈祷。侧廊墙上留着壁画的痕迹，也许是创建时的壁画。其他部分应该是修复过的，主祭坛上面的天顶的蓝色很美。

One of Orvieto's oldest churches (like much of the city, built on Etruscan roots), San Andrea is at the "official" center of town: presiding over Piazza del Republica, right next to City Hall and "the Corso" -- Orvieto's main street. A living parish, San Andrea is where locals go to pray (but tourists are welcome). Actually was lucky enough to be there for the first time on November 30 - the Feast of San Andrea: quite special, whether one is Catholic or not.

Located beside the town hall on Piazza Della Repubblica, Chiesa di San Andrea is a unique Romanesque church with a adjacent twelve sided tower. In medieval times several popes and cardinals were appointed at Sant' Andrea. Because we visited Orvieto on the day of the Feast of the Assumption, we were unable to visit the remains of the Roman and Etruscan foundations in the crypt but delighted in the striking interior with its frescoes.

Simple but nice basilica. It's nice to start your trip to Orvieto with this church. beautiful pulpit and some fresco's

This church, located by Piazza della Repubblica, is a beautiful and rare example of central Italian Romanesque architecture. A papal coronation took place here. The tower is especially memorable. It has 16 sides!

We visited the Church of St Andrew and Bartholomew and after enjoying the medieval atmosphere with frescoes remaining on the wall we noticed the small sign and gate tucked in the front corner of the church. The sign said "tour in progress" and we were curious about a tour to what. That question was answered in a few minutes when a coupled emerged from the stairway with a guide. To go below and see the original Etruscan building site, then the early Christian church built on top recycling the building materials from the former civilization was impressive. Our guide was an archeological graduate student who spoke wonderful English and explained all the Etruscan settlement....the roads, homes, sarcophagi then the mosaics of the early Christian church because a lot of the original floor survived. The patterns all have meaning incorporating the older beliefs into the newer Christian ones. The tour was well worth the time because we had no idea how extensive underground Orvieto was.

I loved the underground ruins at this church. I did not realized they existed until I went in to look at the church itself. There is a tour guide to show you through the ruins and the information he provides is fascinating. I consider this a must see in Orvieto.

It's a hike from the convenient center of Orvieto, but well worth the effort if you love sculpture. The interior is, essentially, a gallery of sculpture from BCE to the Renaissance. The displays are well-labeled, and helpful to a visitor who has some knowledge of art.

On a rainy April afternoon, I happened to try the front door of Chiesa di Santa Andrea, and it opened. I walked in, took a seat, and relished the calm. I was the only visitor, and it was chilly enough inside to see my breath. The gorgeous blue ceiling and medieval paintings (in varying states of decay) are definitely worth a stop.

Chiesa di Sant'Andrea is a 12th century church on the Piazza della Repubblica in Orvieto. It is known for its distinctive decagonal bell tower. The church was open when we were walking through Orvieto, so we stopped inside to visit. It's pretty, quiet, and conducive to prayer and reflection. We visited after taking in the Duomo. If you have time, this church is nice; if not, you will not have missed much. It is a lovely place of worship where you can stop and pray. The Duomo is the best part of Orvieto; this church is just a little extra.

A series of about a dozen16th century statues which were once inside the Duomo. The visitor's experience would be enhanced by simply adding an English description to each statue. Admission: 3 euro

The church was closed and we can not say something about the interior. The building outside is very nice.

A special way to look at a church. From below. Exactly: you heve to descent in the underground and the grave of the church. Really narrow. Watch your steps!!!!

Forse questa chiesa non è la più famosa di Orvieto ma è magnifica, una visita assolutamente inaspettata.All'interno ci sono magnifici mosaici, interessante è la parte etrusca.
