If someone does not appreciate this, I don't know what else will please them. It is a beautiful attraction in this majestic city. Visit the cathedral and the tower!
When you visit this cathedral you can see the great past of this wonderful city. Near the cathedral, the Torrazzo is the highest tower belonging to a church in all european countries.
When in Cremona you cannot miss the Cathedral and the Torrazzo tower. To reach the top of the Torrazzo you have to climb 504 steps: challenging but worth it if you cna make it.
I was born in this beautiful town and i lived here until i was 19 where i then "moved" to the UK. Every time i come back here it's a joy. I would like this town to get the importance it deserves on a international level considering our tourist office has limited resources and doesn't seem to be to switch on in promoting my hometown abroad as it should be. The Duomo it's an absolute delight, the cathedral, the baptistery and of course il Torrazzo. You must go on the top as you can see everything from up there. Double check on the opening times of the tower. Piazza del comune is a fantastic space and if you are lucky enough to be there in summer there are fantastic bars to enjoy an aperitivo or an ice cream with live music. Don't forget to check the Stradivari museum, it's a MUST! A true Italian experience in rural Italy! Trust me!
I lived in Cremona for my childhood and teens ans back then I did not fully appreciate the beauty of this place... now that I live far away I am always amazed by how spacial the Duomo square is... and what to say about the Torrazzo? I recommend a stroll up to the top for a lovely view and if you are lucky, try to see the clock room - super!
Not for the faint of heart. The tower climb can be daunting for wimps like me....but not for my husband. The views are incredible.
Such an unassuming town, but the duomo and the battistero are superb. The outside alone is incredible but wait until you step inside. What a surprise!Be mindful that the duomo is closed during lunch time (God only knows why!). Don't forget to taste some of the famous torrone before you leave town.
The cathedral is very beautiful from outside & awesome from inside. Almost every cm2 is decorated: frescoes, statues, Flemish wall carpets etc.Nearby stands the famous Torrazzo- the symbol of the town.Don't miss the Palazzo Comunale- the City Hall. There are a few rooms open to the public & are worth a visit. The entrance is free. On the other hand, there isn't any more a display of violins - they are all in the new Violin Museum.
Perfect little town scare, with larger than life cathedral and tower. Just unbelievably beautiful. Very lively day and night time!
No exception in the Cathedral. Be sure to see it lit up at night. Take in the Baptist which is more amazing inside.
There are 502 steps up the tower. Until you get to the top there is a grating on the windows that prevents good photography without contortions! At the top one gets a huge panorama of the countryside, but loses the detail of the architecture. Still, for tower aficionados like me, there was a sense of accomplishment and enough rewarding views to justify the climb.
Great frescos, lovely atmosphere. Needs a guide to make the best of it. The two frescos near the main door are amazing
502 steps go past in a flash, especially when you stop to watch the video of the bell tower - really worth seeing, and luckily sub-titled. And once you've circled your way to the top, you're rewarded with some pretty fabulous views over the patchwork rooves of the town to the Po river... Once you make your way down, you can catch your breath in the Cattedrale - where there is more art than you could shake a stick at, and when you've cooled yourself in the fabulous church, you could buy an ice-cream in the square. (Probably five times as many calories as what you've used, but worth every mouthful) The gentleman who checks the clock every day, and sells you the ticket is lovely, full of information and very friendly.
Fantastic view of the Pianuara Padana from Torrazzo!!! A city that I love! Awesome cathedral, specially if you are an architect you must pass by!
If you'd like to hang in Cremona you definitely must see Torrazzo. It could sound demanding becasuse of the several steps to be taken before reaching the top, but it is a must in the city thanks to the stunning view from the top. Next to Torrazzo makes sense visiting the Cathedral because of the Amazing affreschi inside.
