This is an amazing castle. Not only is the view leading up to it incredible, but the interior is very well furnished and preserved – that might be in part because its owner, Emperor Maximilian I, never got to see the finished product as he was executed in Mexico. (His bed, for example, was never slept in.)The castle is usually crowded with visitors but it's well worth the visit. Beautiful views both inside and out.
We took the bus from the main train/bus station to Miramare Castle. You need to be prepared to walk and walk to get to the castle after getting off the bus and late December weather in Trieste was as ice cold breezy as it could be. I also wish that there were more signs indicating the entrance and such.Once inside, it is full of history, very interesting place. We came back with gorgeous pictures and knowledge.
Go on a nice day. The gardens are gorgeous and the interiors incredibly preserved and whimsical. The dragon fountain on the first floor up can also be seen from the entrance hall. The bottom of the pool is glass serving as a very strange feature in altogether odd folly of a building.
This is a very nice castle near the Trieste. Nice place to visit. A great location by the sea, a great garden and very rich and beautiful inside.A parking near behind the fence is for py but you can leave your car also outside. Also you must to pay for a visit to the castle. But the garden is for free and we saw many locals just walking through the park.We also have a coffee in their caffe but it can be better. Nothing special compared to the castle. However it is worth visit.
Worth a visit, very nicely furnished and so nicely surrounded.View from the Castle is unbelievable.
The Miramare Castle is the greatest attraction of the city, nice place to visit it . If you are travelling in this area you cannot forgot to visit this place!
The castle is on the sea, what did you want in plus? You arrive by a walk street, on the shore of the sea, it's not hard. The castle are perfect, the gardens are manicured and the view from the garden, on the sea, it's amazing. You can't visit Triste if you don't go to Miramare's Castle.
It's a must! You definitely have to visit this majestic castle. To describe it now would be a disfavour to the castle. Words are not enough.
Castle belonged to Maximilian I Habsburg, brother of Franc Josef emperor of Austro-hungrian empire.Maximilian became emperor of Mexico, but his life tragically ended as he was defeated in revolution and executed.
Our arrival to the Miramare Castello happened at about 16:30, the time for the sunset in January. Couldn't we be more when we walked down the alley of most likely olive trees because the smell of them relieves the lungs :) Then we traveled to the castle itself and it's park. We had a very unique chance to admire the redish - purple sunset and it was unforgettable! Must visit place
The garden and ponds are exceptional, the castle is a very fine piece of architectural and cultural history. The view of the water is really pretty, too. You will have a nice walk around the outdoor part of this castle, with lots of photo opportunities. This is a very interesting touring spot, and close to good, affordable shopping and beaches.
I am hopelesly inlove with this castle and have visited it for 5 times. I have never met a place that can transpose you in those times, that can give you a magical moment while drinking your cappucino on the terace above the Adriatic sea and i shall never forget those amazing gardens where you can loose yourself for hours.
The Miramare Castle in Trieste is beautiful and the setting is exquisite. A white castle on the sea, with a great history- what more could one ask for?
A marvellous Castle and a great love story, The castle of Maximiliam and Charlotte, before they go to Mexico, a fairy tale castle with greats gardens.
The 19th-century castle on the Gulf of Trieste near Trieste was built from 1856 to 1860 for Austrian Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian and his wife, Charlotte of Belgium. Regrettably, because of his assassination in Mexico, the Archduke did not get to live there. It sits on a promontory with incredible views. Rooms are well restored and the surrounded park is wonderful for walking. Definitely worth a visit.
