The Arts Center was really beautiful. The location was next to the lake, and the view was unbelievable! The Lentua hall was exquisite and most suitable for concerts and the like. The architecture of the Center took into consideration light, sound, air, space. Very nice!

Kuhmo is a small northeast Finland town with about 9000 inhabitants and large areas of unspoiled wilderness nature. Kuhmo is situated about 600 kilometers (370 miles) northeast from the Finnish capital Helsinki. Kuhmo Arts Centre (1993) is the home of the world-renowned Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival (1970 -). The festival – with the attendance exceeding 30000 – takes place annually during the latter half of July. The concert hall is situated right in the town centre near lake Lammasjärvi. It is said that the view from the foyer to the lake is more beautiful than any other.

Kommt man nach Kuhmo, einem verträumten Kleinstädtchen in Kainuu / Nord-Ostfinnland, so würde man hier kaum ein derartiges Konzerthaus erwarten. Grund dafür ist das alljährlich im Juli stattfindende Kammermusik-Festival (ein Geheimtip für alle Kammermusik-Freunde in Mitteleuropa, die Skandinavier kennen es schon...). Aber auch sonst finden in diesem Haus hochklassige Veranstaltugen statt. Allein die superschöne Lage, direkt am See und die hervorragende Architektur und Akustik macht einen Besuch zu einem unvergesslichen Erlebnis.

Diese Konzerthalle ist wohl das mit Abstand bemerkenswerteste Architekturobjekt im Umkreis von vielen hundert Kilometern. Von Aussen verhältnismässig unscheinbar, ist aber der grosse Saal ein richtiges Juwel mit einer Weltklasseakustik. Super!
