This is a wonderful museum, beautifully laid out and totally atmospheric. As a great fan of all things Tudor, to be able to see so many artefacts and stand in the presence of real history was a real privilege. The Historic Dockyard offers something for everyone and we spent 2 days exploring the exhibits. Wonderful! And we'll be back soon!

This museum was really interesting. Not only can you see the preserved hull of the ship, there are hundreds of items that were rescued from the mud and have been preserved - eg clothes, guns, tools etc. It's incredible that such things have survived under the sea for so many centuries. The museum really lets you understand what life on board must have been like.

Absolutely brilliant if you like history brought to life! To see actual relics from the Tudor period was amazing; skeletons, clothing, weapons and personal belongings that sank with the ship gave such insight in to the lives of those that sailed with the Mary Rose. The remains of the ship are in such good shape

Watched it being raised on the tv and thought at the time why are they bothering with those bits of old timber. Now the thousands of items recovered with it are displayed with the hull it all comes together. Gives you a peep into their lives in Tudor times. The lighting gives a ghostly image of the hull, a bit spooky. Well worth spending time walking around as lots of well labelled items to look at. Best do it out of season when you can see everything at a relaxed pace.

An excellent day out. The museum is really well set out and the guides are very informative. Amazing that so many artifacts have survived. Loved the reconstructed faces of some of the crew. It definitely a 'must see' if you are visiting Portsmouth.

Spent several hours at this attraction soon after it opened in its revised form. They have done a splendid job in displaying the remains of the ship and the multitude of artefacts. The only problems encountered were trying to find our way around, especially when needing a coffee break half way through. More signs are needed, to suggest the best route around and to enable exit. Also we failed to see everything, despite being there for over two hours. The little cafe was fine and the staff throughout the museum could not have been more helpful and knowledgeable. Thoroughly recommended.

A fascinating exhibition, fortunate to visit during a quiet season, so able to dawdle round as we pleased. Preservation methods as well as the actual items retrieved and the whole story is well worth a visit. Allow much more time than you might think. Esp. liked the pepper grinder WITH peppercorns still in it.

I remember watching the ship bring raised on Blue Peter, then we came to visit 10 years ago when it was bring sprayed so to see it now was amazing. The way it is displayed over the different decks is very good. I annoyed getting a feel for the everyday life on the ship. Best bits are the reconstruction of the faces of the people they found there and who doesn't love the dog!Well done. Can't wait to come again when it is finally dried out and we can see the final restoration of this beautiful ship.

I took my children to this ship in the 1980s. It was awesome then; it is awesome now in a different way. It has changed a lot and the MR is now in a secure, climate controlled building and all the artifacts are arranged in a story telling way i.e. as you follow the suggested route you get to see how the sailors lived and worked. The tools and personal effects belonging to the sailors are all displayed behind glass and well described. One walks along the corridors with the MR on one side and the modern display on the other. You view the MR though windows which are well placed for tall people, small people, people in wheelchairs etc.I was really impressed at how professionally the display had been created. The British really do museums well. For disabled people there is a 'state of the art' WC. The café is of adequate size; the museum shop is open plan with the café. We were there on a Sunday morning and it would have been helpful to have two or more menbers of staff taking tickets and serving as the cash register for the shop. I had to wait a long time to pay for my souvenir. Apart from that, it is an impressive exhibition.

The opening of the new ship hall has enabled the RN Museum to really bring this historic ship and its artifacts to life.If you visit Hampshire, you should make sure you include this on your list of things to do.

Set over 3 levels on one side overlooking the wreck and the other, some of the relics from that level brings it to life. The museum displays also gave an insight into the items on display and the sailors and crew. Next year when the display changes will be well worth going back to. Great to gain some insight over the years into the scale of the restoration

Last time in Portsmouth, this part of the dockyard was not yet opened. So we came back. I can remember when the Mary Rose was brought up from the sea bed. It's incredible to see so much of a 400 year old 'wreck'. Great artifacts, and the history is well explained as you walk round. Sad part is the number of lives lost when she went down.
