Went to see The Full Monty with friends, what a hoot, a really good show, funny and well acted. I really like De Montfort Hall the acoustics are amazing, we see a lot of shows here.
Cannot fault this production of the 1997 film from start to finish it faithfully stuck to the film plot with all the great one liners and music. All the actors from the famous to not so famous where spot on with their roles. The venue itself is very nice with good veiws comfy seats and good leg room, parking is cheap and plentiful with a good size car park just outside the hall.
Was a great night bit upset you couldn't take pictures but didn't spoilt the night as sam Bailey was amazing and her warm up group daughters of David were also great will defo go back here
We took our granddaughter to see Justin Live, all the staff were lovely and the event was fantastic, snacks and ice cream were all fair on price
If you like a soapy type of show or films then “Blood Brothers” is your cup of tea. Generally speaking, the story is uncomplicated: two twins are separated shortly after birth but their faith keeps them close to each other up until the end. There are no twists or wild imagination involved; everything is very simple. The only interesting bit, as I found for myself, was the divergence in spoken English between two families who belonged to two completely different social classes. It was captivating listening to some characters whereas the speech of the others can only be described as nails screeching down on a chalkboard! The overall acting was good, but not outstanding. It was bizarre to watch children played by adults, but with the amount of swearing involved I can understand why the participation of children could not be considered. Therefore, I enjoyed more watching the second part when the twins have grown up. However, I was impressed by the vibrant and colourful character of Mrs Johnstone that was presented and played very realistically and also the complex and detached character of Mrs Llyons. Both of these women make you think: “Oh yep… I met that lady before!”Despite a few negative comments above, my advice will still be to go and see it, even if you are not doing your GCSE. It might provoke some interesting observations and even encourage self-development.
Been here many times, not too big of a venue so you can see the stage from any seat with ease, hear everything and the lighting is good. the seats are comfortable compared to a lot of arenas etc! intimate shows, love it here
Great venue seen lots of shows here, always comfortable and the acoustics are brill . Last night was the Bootleg Beatles, seen it a few times over the years, the new John Lennon is awesome, shivers down the spine he's so like him, noticed it was a new George Harrison too, very good had all his stances and quirky side grin, the music was fantastic as usual, well worth seeing, they are back next Dec 5th (2015) cant wait.
We went to the Joan Armatrading final tour- it was a great show, even though the upstairs was not very full. it was annoying that a group of drunk ladies arrived late, ate nuts, kept going out to the ladies, and chatted through the songs- i wish the ushers could have done something about this.
We are very lucky to have this venue in Leicester and the choice of shows has improved greatly over the years. The staff are very helpful when you are booking seats and being able to buy a parking space is a great addition.
No real wait to get in, great sound in the venue, and the bar was not unreasonable. We had a great time, and it was very easy to find and get to.
recently saw counting corws here , great venue as smaller and intimate , staff great , not oppressive . nice bar . its kept beautifully .
Splendid place to visit, the upkeep is outstanding and looks as good as the day is was built, staff friendly and full of knowledge.Take a picnic and enjoy the gardens, plenty of seating just so you can relax and let you mind wonder.
Went to see blood brothers on a fri night here. Had a very enjoyable experience with a very good show and set put on. Drinks were well priced and if pre ordered ready for the interval x
Great venue for small theatre, bands, comedians, mini festivals.I have been on a few occasions, the folk festival in the summer is very good as you have access to the main hall and stage, the spacious bar and the grounds are big enough for other large venue tents. Good access for wheelchairs, plenty of toilets and reasonably priced bar.
Went to see Elvis Presley in concert and not being a fan but mum was I thought the show was fantastic. Demont fort hall always pulls all the stops out to make all the shows the best
