You are right, access to the first floor of this 500 year old building is difficult if people are unable to use the stairs, and it is something we hope to address in future. At the moment, there is a CD tour of the house available to be put on in the café if we spot that visitors are restricted to the ground floor - my next task is to make a sign to advertise the fact!

OldSue, that's really interesting to know! The house I suppose is a little like a tardis with lots more to see than might be suspected from the pavement. (And until the 1960s and the multi-storey carpark, it had even more buildings out the back and a bowling green...) Hope to see you again, and thank-you for the review.

Thank-you - it is really lovely when the charity's efforts are appreciated. Tudor House has been run for ten years by volunteers, raising money from events, donations and the tea room, so it's quite a commitment but it makes for a great atmosphere, which visitors are part of. So glad you enjoyed it!

We came across this by chance and it's absolutely my favourite sort of historic building: very old, creaky, not too big and not well-known and crowded.It's rather Tardis-like, in that you'd never guess how enormous the space inside is from the street. The guides will tell you as much or as little as you wish, and don't intrude if you just want to mooch around at your own pace. To those interested in vernacular architecture, it's a total treat, but apparently it escaped demolition only because the Second World War started and the bureaucratic process which would have seen it destroyed was put on hold. Thank heavens! But, oh dear...what a shame when you look at what's happened to other parts of Worcester. Poor old Elgar must wonder what's happened to his county town as he stands near the cathedral in front of that awful range of shops at the roundabout.....but that's another story.There's a little cafe in part of the building and a lovely garden to wander around. Please, Worcester city powers-that-be...cherish your architectural heritage and don't destroy any more old buildings.

Our first visit to the Tudor House but it will not be the last. Run by very friendly and knowledgable volunteers who were happy to talk about the house and the many roles which it has seen over the years. The house was filled with interesting artefacts from the past and the audio/visual presentation described some of the history of Worcester. There was a number of activities to keep the younger visiter amused. Coffee and cake in the cafe was very welcome.

Ran by volunteers, this enchanting house is unspoilt. The voluntary helpers fill you with enthusiasm and are eager to share but not impose.
