We loved exploring this market and wandered in a bit before buying some juices. Everyones juices have added sugar - we didnt find any wihout. We ate a seafiid sampler at the back of the market and enjoyed the freshness and service. We went on a Friday and I'm glad because when we dropped by on the saturday the place was even more packed!
This market is beautiful, located on Las Rambla. There is so much fresh fruit here and it is displayed beautifully. You can also buy lots of nice spanish meats.
This place is really awesome. Colourful salls selling all things worth trying from cut fruit/juice through pasties, ham, seafood to sweets. We really enjoyed the look of all the stalls that sell fresh seafood, but there is plenty of things prepared, ready to eat there. I think it's best just to wander in when you have some appetite, and try different things. Who wouldn't want a small whole squid fried, on a stick? ;)
I have visited this great place and I was overwhelmed by the variety of great food that you can find here : "Jamon", cheese, oysters, fish, seafood f.e. and a big choice of fruits & vegetables. This all in a fantastic setting. If you like food and want to discover something new you must visit la Boqueria !!!!
My boyfriend and I happened to walk past this lovely market on our stroll from Plaça de Sant Josep Oriol. We tried a few things from the stalls. One of our favourites was the sample sticks of different varities of meat for 1€. Despite the fact that the market was full of tourists, walking through the market made you feel like a local. We definitely would go back here if we are ever in Barcelona again.
Food is excellent in this market, and all the fresh food restaurants around it are delicious. They're pricy but - for example - the paella is cooked with shellfish fresh out of the water; really tasty. Was quite surprised that mine had octopus in it but was cooked just right - it wasn't as tough as when I've had it elsewhere, was definitely more meaty and flavoursome. At €20 or more a pop, mind you, you'd expect it to be good. We picked up a few of the fruit smoothies on the way out, as a desert. They were grand too.
As in the title, market is living its own, noisy life. Full of fish, seafood, fruits, and sweets. You have to visit this place!
