We would have liked longer to study the history section of this attraction but were limited as we were on an organised tour of Gozo. Our tour guide spent a lot of time explaining everything to us once we had walked along the well maintained paths to see the Temples. As with Stonehenge, it is amazing to imagine how all these enormous blocks of rock could have been put in place so long ago when there was none of the machinery that existed in later centuries. An interesting and thought provoking place.

Except the temples itself there is a modern museum you should cross before with different information and artifacts.

Amazing to see those blocks of stone and just to look at and imagine how difficult it was to carry it and match. Really fascinating! Even it was raining I really liked to see it.

Sorry ,but i dont get this, the price was really expensive to visit basically a pile of rubble in a field surrounded by scaffolding, a small museum as you entered , no tour guide to expain anything to you, a gift shop where the 2 staff members spoke among themselves and didnt acknowledge you when you tried to buy something, Yes, it is a World Heritage Site and I do appreciate that at one time this was a temple of beauty and importance, but visit Newgrange in Co Louth, Ireland for same price again older then the Pyramids and the difference in these 2 sites that are both World heritage sites, the tour guide expaining the history of how it was built the extraordinary sunlight shaft coming thru at day break on the Winter Soltice and the fact the admission price there gives you 2-3 hours value . We were in and out of temple at Ggantija in 25 mins, and waited an hour for a bus back to Victoria(Rabat). Very disappointing and the Leaflet I picked up in hotel was very misleading..

The sheer age of these ruined temples certainly give you a bit of perspective as you gaze away from them at the modern developments of Gozo. Visit at a quiet time as this site is well and truly on the tourist map. The shop at the exit actually has some decent stuff for sale too.

As with the Neolithic sites on Malta, these are just fascinating. The museum was informative and the temple remains extraordinary. Well worth a visit.

We thought we must pay a visit just because the Temples predate almost everything. The exhibition centre was impressive and informative but for our visit a fair proportion of the Temples were enveloped in scaffolding which distracted from the overall impression for us. Clearly for such an aged site maintenance work must be done to preserve the edifice but does it have to be done in such a clumsy way? We're pleased we visited though.

We took the local bus service which stops close by. Was supprised how expensive the venue was compared to all other attractions on the island. Yes expensive but worth a visit.

If you like history and archaeology this place is a must see. They recently underwent restoration and are quite a sight to behold.

It's quite amazing to see temples that even older than the Pyramids. If you're interested in historical sights this is well worth a visit. There's a museum where you can read about the discovery andthe excavations & then you go through & see the ancient templesthemselves. I was on a hop on/hop off tour & this was a site I justhad to get off and explore.I'm glad I did!

We visited when the Centre was largely closed but the temples, now covered for preservation were impressive and unmissible

These are well worth a trip out to Xaghra, good museum entrance with lots of information then the outside temples are easily accessible on boardwalks. The size of these Neolithic temples are awesome, older than the pyramids.

There is a nice museum to give you background information as you enter the area. We found the information helped us understand what we would see much better. The ruins are worth a visit.

Thank you for submitting your review. As you rightly pointed out, the significance of the Ġgantija Temple complex lies in its antiquity, as its date of construction goes back over 5,000 years ago. Although the roofing of the temples has been lost over time, Ġgantija and all the prehistoric temples of Malta are very much considered as buildings. The megalithic walls that are made up of gargantuan slabs of local stone are the most striking feature in this monument which is a true testimony to the extraordinary building skills of our Neolithic ancestors. Site interpretation is not only limited to information signs but include a number of audio-visuals that feature commentaries by experts, reconstructions and demonstrations that help in the understanding of the site’s importance. We are however continuously striving to improve the visitors’ experience of the site and the inclusion of more interactive facilities in the future will definitely help to bring the site to life. Thank you.
