Not the best of Georgia's State park, but, well worth the visit. Georgia does State Parks very well and each tells a story about the area of the state you are in. This of course is in the Appalachian area of the state. The air smells piney and freshly minted. There are hiking trails and play areas for the children. Take the time to look over Georgia's parks their is one sure to meet your fancy. Georgia is quite large and has a diverse set of topography each with it's own story to tell. The State does a very good job maintaining these gems throughout the State. C'mon down ya'll and see what we have to offer. Oh, it is not far from this park to Dahlonega the site of the first gold rush in the United States.

Have stayed there numerous time throughout the years and it has always been a pleasant experience. Rangers are friendly and helpful, maintenance crews keep the place clean and each camp site has adequate room that provides fair amount of privacy.

From the road west of the state park we saw a waterfall. We pulled over and took pictures and wondered how you get to it. We noticed the State Park was next so we figured it had to be in there. After doing Helton Creek Falls we decided to go to Vogel State Park and try to find the falls. We drove around to the far side and found the trail around the lake that heads to Top Bottom Falls. It was a nice short trail that led to a nice falls but I will say the view from the road is more dramatic. It was still a nice falls.

Vogel Park was constructed by the boys in the Civilian Conservation Corps during the depression years of the 1930s. Over the years, the staff and volunteers at Vogel Park have done a fantastic job of maintaining these original structures and have added a number of other amenities. There is a well maintained campground, rental cabins, a swimming area and pavilion on the main lake, a waterfall and hiking trails too. The ranger staff, both regular and volunteer, do an excellent job of sharing the history of Vogel Park and the surrounding area with historical artifacts and interpretive programs. Take it from a retired Park Ranger from Florida, this is a gem in the crown of parks that I have visited in states from coast to coast over the years. t

What a lovely walk along the stream. You can choose from a short granny hike of 30 min or so, or an intermediate length to an observation deck and waterfall, or the full hike which is a little more challenging. pack a lunch and enjoy the serenity.

This used to be the diamond state park in all of Georgia. The resident ranger would host family softball games in the evening for EVERYONE to play in. Once a week a different group or band would come in and entertain everyone. The kids would all dance. They sometimes would have cloggers come in from around the area to demonstrate what clogging was. It was a great place to spend the summer. Now the place is dead. No activities, fishing is bad. The boats have been fixed up a little but the horses are gone. I won't be staying again.

On a really cold day, my wife and I took a drive that included the park. As always, it was a very pleasant experience in a beautiful park. It was, however, very chilly when we got out to take pictures frequently. Nature in winter has a very special kind of beauty.

We stopped here for a nice walk and a photo opp. It would be even prettier in the summer or fall but it was so nice. Lots of activities for a summer trip when the water would be warmer. The cabins look cute and would be a nice location to stay in...not far from Desoto falls or Helton creek falls.

COLD but great place to stretch your legs and see a water fall :). Cabins on campus for renting, and during summer far more busy. Can't say I didn't enjoy it being quiet.

I love Vogel! What more can I say, my parents took me here when I was young and began coming back 10 yrs ago. It's like time stood still! Every season offers something different, from the fall leaves and hoe down in the park to Summer activities for everyone, swimming and boating! We try to make it up at least once a year sometimes twice :-). We stay in the cabins but there is a huge beautiful camp ground. A one mile hike around the lake brings you to a waterfall. It is truly nature at it's best!

Fun place to go and relax with the family. They have lots to do and the park is clean. We are planning on going back next year.

We took the kids on our NE GA MTN visit. This is were we will definitely stay next time. The view of the lake with mtns. in the background are beautiful. We went to the office and for 5.00 we had full range of all walking trails. We chose the shorter ones because we have young kids, but we ended up doing 3 miles or more. We were there the last week of 2014, so the paddle boats were not available. I can see this place is the place to be in the summer. The park is very well maintained and patrons also have done their part in keeping the park so beautiful and clean. I didn't see one item of trash. We remind our kids to do the right thing, leave it how you found it for the animals to have a safe place to live. On the trails they have exercises for you and the kids to participate in posted on wood signs through out the trail, which my 7 year old loved. The office provided a map and gave clear directions. They have restrooms near the office and plenty of parking. This was the only place I was able to use WiFi and reach out to family and friends. Most places in these mtns your phone is worthless, which is why we come here to unplug. So, if you need to reach out...you can here. Remember to always pick up brochures anytime you see one, because they have maps and your phone may not be helpful sometimes while driving around.Go to the water fall is beautiful. The cool part the wooden landing gives you a great photo opportunity. It's not a hard trail, but you will not get a wheelchair or walker down or up.Bring the kids, snacks , good shoes and water. The cabins are spread apart and all had great views. We stayed not far from here, but I'm planning to stay here next time and it's on the way to Blairsville.

Many fun things to do here...camp, fish, rent a cabin, hike, swim, more. Clean and safe. Plan early if you want a cabin or camp site ...make reservations early! South of Blairsville about 11 or so miles. Recommended.

We love going to Vogel. I take my family and 2 dogs. We have done the paddle boats but usually just walk around the lake and go down to the waterfall. It is great for pictures as well. They have a playground and putput for the kids. We usually do a picnic lunch there for the day but there is camping and cabins available. You pay to get in the park and i believe it is #3 for the day.

The falls are gorgeous and a very easy hike. Path well maintained. Road to access the falls can be difficult, not a lot of options for for two cars to pass. Had to back up severals times to pull over enough to allow a car to pass.
