This is a National Forrest Service attraction. A parking fee is required unless you have a All Access Park Pass. Nice pick nick area at the bottom and awesome views at the top. If you are driving up from in Atlanta. Spring and Fall it will probably be 20 degrees cooler at the top, come prepared.

We visited Christmas week on our vacation north as it has been our goal for years. We talk of it everyday Btb, we Loved it and will be back!

This is the highest spot in the State of Georgia. The hike from the parking lot to the viewing area is quite a work out so if you are in a wheel chair or have young children with you bear this in mind. There is a shuttle if you are not in a hiking mood. The view is fantastic. I suggest a nice lunch in Helen afterwards.

The family had never visited Brasstown Bald before, so on this really cold and windy but clear day, we decided to brave it. We're glad we did. The views were Amazing. There were no bathrooms available, since they shut off the water due to the freezing tempatures, however we didn't have to pay the $3 per person either. No employees and no collection envelopes. My kind of place. If you are in the area, take the time to visit. It's a steep walk to the top, but they have plenty of resting places for the not so in shape crowd.

About two hours from midtown Atlanta in the NE part of the state, you can have postcard level views of the national forests in three states. Even the tall buildings in downtown Atlanta can be seen in a clear day. Beautifully maintained by the Park Service, you can hike to the top of the mountain on a manicured trail or take a van than runs every 15 minutes. In addition to observation decks dominating an impressive 360 degree view, the top offers a small museum and a movie depicting the 4 seasons at Brasstown Bald. If you are nature lover, you will thoroughly enjoy this visit.

Excellent displays, a little history, and a fantastic view. Take a picnic and enjoy the outdoors. Walk or ride up the nature trail.

We drove up to Brasstown Bald on a sunny Saturday with temps in the 50s. It is a STEEP climb to the top but there are many places to stop and take a break. I'm not sure I would want to do it in the middle of summer but my neighbor who works up there says it's always cool. The view was breathtaking. The hike down was almost as hard as the hike up due to the steepness! Supposed to be the steepest grade trail in the state. Indoor restrooms and gift shop were closed due to off season.

I've seen now a few meteor showers Brasstown Bald...absolutely amazing place to be for stars. The shop on top is nice, but the walk up is pretty steep...needed the exercise anyway.

I've visited several times in all seasons and have enjoyed every season. In winter I do recommend checking ahead with the U.S. Forest Service to see if the road to the top is open. It snows here more than you might think. If there is icing on the road then they will be closed and you might not want to make the drive out there to find it so.For fall this is the best place to see the foliage at 4,784 feet above sea level. The best and most crowded time to visit is in October during peak leaf viewing season. For five dollars you can take the shuttle to the very top from the parking area which is located about two thirds of the way up the mountain. You can however hike it for free from the parking area or from a trail head at the base of the mountain. It is a strenuous and difficult hike so come prepared. At the top the views are stunning in every direction. There is also a history museum that highlights local culture and history. A film is offered to give you a better understanding of the mountain. All are included with the five dollar shuttle ride fee.It is certainly worth a visit and I typically include Brasstown Bald when I am showing out of town guests the sights of the North Georgia Mountains and they come away impressed.

For a small fee, yoo can enjoy a nature walk, picnic, or hike/ride to the top of Georgia. See several states if weather is clear. Beautiful place to SEE!!

Walked steep path up for 6/10ths of a mile. Watched the informative short film. Walked the perimeter. On this partly sunny day, while our view was obscured by clouds, the view was still indescribably beautiful and it was fascinating to look down upon the moving clouds.

This is a definitely a waypoint if you are staying or traveling in the area. Nice facility. It is primarily a fire lookout tower with a nice observation deck for the public. There is a short informative video show also. Don't be a wuss, take the trail up. :)

A must if you are in the area! Pay $5 a person to enter and you can trek up to the observation deck or take the shuttle up. The hike up is not for the faint of heart. It's like walking up a 42 story building. I recommend the shuttle up and then hike back down. The view is absolutely breath taking. We had some fog and clouds to contend with but most lifted.

Considering this was a great trip in the winter, I am really excited to experience the drive, hike, and view in the spring and fall! The "hike" is steep but at .6 miles I wouldn't really call it a hike. It did get our heart rates up but just not for a long period of time. :) The walk up was definitely worth it just to see the contrast in vegetation that the bald has to offer, totally different than just a few miles south. Very cool. The whole family loved it.
