This is a review of the Cateechee Golf Club restaurant. We went there on a Friday night, which apparently is a hangout night for locals at the Club bar. We were served good food in a timely manner (despite the crowd), and listened to some good country music as we ate and drank. We ate there some years before and were happy to see that the high standards of the restaurant have been kept up.
Every time we go here for dinner we are very pleased. The staff is very professional, the prices great, etc. We have so few good restaurants in this area. I hope they continue for a long time.
I have played golf at Cateechee since it first opened. The course is not an easy course to play if you are not capable of walking up and down slopes. The distance between some holes makes this course virtually a nightmare to walk. A cart is a necessity. Because the course uses recycled waste-water from the City of Hartwell, the course is always green and in excellent condition. Don't count on a beverage cart offering food and beverages. Some times it runs and other times it doesn't. The course does have a 19th hole and does not allow personal coolers. You will not be disappointed in the Waterfall bar and grill.
We visit once a month and always enjoy the food, drinks, and atmosphere. Service is always top-notch.
Cateechee is one of the best of the area golf courses. It provides a challenge to golfers of all calibers. Greens are firm and fast, often elevated, and fairways vary from wide open to tight. The pro shop is always welcoming. If in the area, be sure to play this course.
Positives: Beautiful atmosphere, good food (i had tasty crab cakes and baked potato)Negatives: Water(had a soil/earthy taste), service was mediocre (3 servers were assigned to our party and we still had to ask for lemons 3 times, bread twice, and it took about 40 mins for all of our food to come out.)
We go there every time we visit our lake house at Lake Hartwell. The menu has a good selection of food from low cost to high. I have to say that I've never had a bad meal there and the service has always been well above par.
AMAZING golf course tucked away in Hartwell Georgia. I am an avid golfer, country club member, travel all around to play golf and managed to play 100 rounds in 2012. Cateechee impressed me. Lots of beautiful and challenging holes with rolling hills and isolation as you navigate the course. Some holes are a bit challenging to play the first time around as you are getting a feel for the course due to blind shots but Cateechee is well worth the play!!
We like to eat here now and then because its one of the best in the Hartwell area. Food is excellent and service is fast and efficient.
Read a couple bad reviews and it made me a little curious before I went to this golf club. Let me say that I have no idea what could possible make this place below 4 stars.i have played courses all over the word from Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, to inside the states at California, Arizona, Washington, Florida, even many courses here in Georgia. With that said this course is easily in top 3.PROS- -scenery was amazing, rolling hills and valleys surrounded by wildlife and nature. There isn't a city for several miles so there are no busy roads or annoying sounds to bother your golf game.-greens and fairways were in great shape. Very well maintained/groomed course.-challenging course, playing over water and up and down hills.-very nice clubhouse although I didnt get a chance to taste the grill sadly. -very nice staff and service was great-$80 green fees arent bad. While some may fuss about the price I have paid much more for the same or even worse conditions. CONS--knowing your clubs is a must for this course. Playing long or short here means trouble. -there isn't alot to do in the area after your game (unless you brought your boat for the lake) nor are there many nice hotels in the immediate area. Luckily I have family that lives in the area. BOTTOM LINE-stop reading reviews and find a way to go play. You wont be sorry you found this hidden gem.
We enjoy Sunday lunch almost every weekend. It is a lovely place to dine with good views of the golf course from the windows and delicious food prepared thoughtfully and delivered by a friendly, efficient wait staff.
It's well manicured and the club house is pretty fancy.... the front 9 is basically a reclaimed cow pasture that is well maintained, but the back 9 is really beautiful and a treat to play - the elevation changes are tough but fun, so bring a few extra balls.
Club House has wonderful architecture. Food is good. Setting is lovely. Excellent club/restaurant for this area which has little to offer in dining or golf
A large group of friends get together to spend Labor Day Weekend at Richard B Russell State Park each year. Our trip would not be complete without a jaunt to Cateechee to play golf and dine at the fabulous Waterfall Grille. The golf course is challenging, beautifully located and a lot of fun to play. It has become a little pricey but worth a round. The Waterfalle Grille is terrific and quite elegant. They feature a variety really upscale meals for a resonable price. We usually grab lunch there before we play golf....the lunches are good too. Really a great place to spend a day of golf topped off with a delicious meal.
We visit the Hartwell/Elberton area several times each summer and always make the drive here to eat. The resturant is excellent, great bar and bartenders, food is from very good to outstanding and the staff is friendly, knowledgable and fast. I have never had a bad anything here and i have dined here 8 times and will come back every time we are in the area. By the way I am not a golfer, only come for the food and the bar.
