Hi Winnielake, thank you so much for sharing your lovely review of Lake Winnie and SOAKya with us! We're delighted that you and your kids enjoyed attractions like the Cannonball, the Pirate, the Boat Chute and our newest edition; SOAKya water park! We're also happy to hear our staff provided you with excellent customer service. We cannot wait to see you and the rest of your family when we open for the 2015 season on May 2nd!
If you want to go back in time at an old school amusement park here's your chance! Many of the rides here are from more than 50 years ago. The park opened in 1925. Some of the rides are original to the park. The boat shoot is antique but cool! The wooden roller coaster (the Cannonball) is a youngster to the park because it was built in the late 1960's. The antique, hand carved, Horse Carousel is almost 100 years old (circa 1918- I believe). It's one of the oldest carousels in the whole country, and is the crown jewel of the park. By amusement park standards of today this one is quite small. There's a lake in the middle of the park, thus the term Lake Winnepesaukah (later shortened to Lake Winnie). I went there for the first time in the mid 1960's, and except for a few newer rides the park has remained pretty much the same since then. They added a water park a few years ago, which seems to make the park a little more current. One price for both the amusement park and the water park gets you into the park. Nostalgia is the word here! Time has somehow stood still here, and the look on the faces of the children who go here is still priceless. Fun times for all!
Lake Winnie is the perfect way to spend a day with your kids, but it also has lots of rides for adults. It's a great amusement park near Chattanooga, Tennessee. I went when I was a kid and it hasn't changed much, just revived a bit. I went with my daughter and her family this summer and it was a blast! It was hot but there are shady spots and a great area to picnic under shade. Lake Winnie isn't one of these HUGE amusement parks but just the right size to enjoy the day. It has any ride one could want to ride! It now also has a great water park, so what else could ya want?
lake winnie, is a family tradition we love it and the environment very much. no the park is nothing fancy but it is so warm and inviting that it makes up for it. our parents took us and now we take our children at least once a year. its very affordable and a great and safe alternative to some other amusement parks! i recommend everyone to visit!
Took my adult daughter who had just had a baby, her 1 month old, 21 month old and 3 year old. We had McDonalds $5 coupons and it cost $73 dollars to get in. My daughter and 1 month old could not ride anything, and I only rode with the young ones on a few rides. They need to rethink their admission prices and offer a gate admission price for those who will not be riding. I think it used to be $5 but now you have to pay the entire fee, and anyone over 2 pays full price admission, there are no children prices over 2. If the smiles, giggles and squeals were not priceless, I would have felt ripped off. I feel like the prices make it hard for families with small children to enjoy the park.
The park is old and nasty. The employes are young teenagers that could care less about your safety. The Ferris wheel operators have to hang on Ferris wheel to stop it to let people off. It needs to be closed down. The water ride is the most stupid ride I've ever been on you go through a dark tunnel for 5 minutes, nothing is in the tunnel pretty pointless. The paddle boats are extremely hard to paddle and you are required to wear life vest that smell like urine. The girl at the spinning ride beside water ride was too lazy to walk around ride and check everyone that she would have everyone sit on side that was closet to her. She never even walked around to make sure everyone was off the ride or check once people got on. The Wild Lighting ride needs to be shut down my mom broke her rib on it from the jerking. So what was supposed to be a fun day at the park ended up at the emergency room. Will never return to this place unless they clean it up and hire people who are more aware of their customers then their cellphones.
Went with a group of 200 8/30/14. Besides the ticket we had food and an ice cream..great food. Lots of great rides and a water park. The staff were exceptional to work with setting up the event and follow thru. All of the rides had short lines except for the coke stands! Yes it was a hot day and we started at 9.. people came from Nashville..atlanta..rome..for our group event..no problems..☆☆☆☆☆
Our family of 5 ( kids 5,4,1) had an amazing time!!!! Yes some of the rides aren't bright and new, but we all had soooo much fun! This is actually my first review ever, and we are just minutes out of the park. Some comments about it being dingy and the moldy life jackets made me wonder if this was the right place to take my family. Well it was! We live in Florida and have passes to busch gardens, which is at almost $100 per person which doesnt include the $18 ( something crazy like that)! Here my whole family got it for $124! Come early, ride fun rides til you are hot, swim in lazy river, kid and adult slides, then back for more rides, then cool off one more time before leaving! Being able to cool off kept the adults and kids happy and in great moods! Not to mention the food is so reasonable its not worth carrying around food from home. No joke a huge fruit bowl (like a bowl from home piled high with a lid) was only $4!!! I pay like 6 at Publix for the same thing! Oh, and all the life jackets were fine, maybe they bleached them a bit after that review. Last thing, Besides chasing 3 kids around (lol) I dont "work out" and I paddled with our one year old by my self just fine! So if you get one thats difficult, perhapd try a different one and let them know ;-) I had no problem ;-) super super fun! Higly recommend!
We recently visited the park and took advantage of the Soakya water park. It was nice. My complaint with the water park is they need to enforce the wt limit because there were kids that were too light to get down the tube line and the worker had to go down the line and push them own. This took up too much time resulting in longer waits. But all in all we had a blast and will definately return over and over again. The new changing rooms at the water park are way too small. They were not designed well is another thing that stood out. I agree with the previous comment they do need to touch up with power wash and paint but it didn't decrease the good time we had. My son always loves this park. I highly recommend.
Brought the family on a Saturday for the day and we all had a great time. We drove about two hours from the Atlanta area primarily for the water park to avoid the madness of Six Flags White Water and were happy with the water park here. Yes there are fewer slides and rides in this water park, but it was nice and clean and not very crowded. The other rides in the park are really mostly carnival rides, but still fun especially for younger kids, teenagers might be looking for more thrill rides than what is available here. The Cannon Ball coaster is a lot of fun, but be careful on the Wild Lightnin' ride. It has some pretty violent turns and stops and can hurt your head and neck so avoid if you have issues with your neck especially. The boat shoot is definately old school, it is basically just a ride down a long dark tunnel and then down a small hill into the lake. Be sure to take your own food and leave it at the picnic area, it will be completely safe and will help to save money on food. Buy tickets online first to save a few bucks, parking is free too. Overall, we had a great time and loved the old school, family friendly feel of the park.
We recently took our 3 grandchildren and daughter to visit Lake Winnie. The specials offered on that day entitled myself and daughter to get in free! The kids rode all the rides and some more than once. Then we enjoyed the water park! All in the initial admission fee!! What a deal!! The park is the perfect size. You do not walk yourself to a frazzle getting to the other rides. We ate lunch there and was surprised at the low cost of feeding all of us! The grounds are kept clean. One suggestion: Update your directions on your website!! They are not correct coming from Knoxville area! Love the history of this park.
Rides are fun. My daughter is exactly 48 inches tall and could ride all but 2 of the rides. The lines weren't bad. It's a shame they don't maintain it. Dingy is a good description. It just needs a lot pressure cleaning and paint. Skip the paddle boats. They were dirty and harder to pedal than you think.Worse though is the required life jackets, mildewed and super smelly. All that aside, still fun. My daughter didn't notice anything. She had a blast!
We've been bringing our kids to Lake Winnie for years now. It is a small, family-run amusement park with a new waterpark. Perfect for a one-day trip; plenty of time to see the whole park. Die-hard ride aficionadoes may find the rides a little tame, but we find it perfect for a family. Free parking, (usually) short lines, reasonable entrance fee--what's not to love?
Great alternative to Six Flags or White Water. Overall great experience. Fun carnival style rides and a descent water park.
We were looking for vacation activities. There were a few negative reviews but our group wanted to check it out for ourselves anyway - so glad we did! I wanted a discount so I looked online- Mom Monday sounded perfect- Mom gets in free with two paid children! Yay! So we paid three admissions and had one free. That helped a lot! Our two teenagers didn't like the waterpark but only because it was too crowded. Once they noticed the other side of the park had almost no lines, they were in heaven! We were there on mostly overcast day and could walk up to almost any ride and be on it within a few minutes. It was fun for all of us! Food not too pricy either. Folks were friendly- we also enjoyed the train ride around the park. All four of our group enjoyed. One reviewer said like county fair only better/cheaper and I agree- WAY cooler!
