My husband and I really enjoy this park We find it to be safe and never too crowded. We tend to go here on weekdays with our dog. It has a pond, paved walkways, childrens park and large areas to play soccer or frisbee. Parking can be scarce and turning into the park can sometimes be a pain. It's located off of Suwanee Dam Road and Trench Road.
My wife and I walk to this park most days. It has a beautiful lake, great playground for the kids and beautiful trees.
We go to Sims Park for our walking exercise, as well as, others. Sims is a nice size park, meaning it has plenty of parking space, has a playground for kids, clean bathrooms and is safe, without being too big. I don't worry if my wife or daughter go walk there by themselves, because the entire paved walking track is a big loop around the park and anyone walking can see and be seen by others. Another park we go to more regularly, just because it's a little closer to our house, is a much larger park with many spots where you may be the only person within sight. I do not like my wife or daughter going there without another person. Unless you are looking for a park with all the ball fields, tennis courts, mini vans everywhere, Sims is a good choice. There is a beautiful lake in the park too.
Have been walking here since it opened several years ago. I am a semi retired senior and it's 1.2 mile loop is a good way to get the aerobic workout that I need. Normally do two loops while taking in, and enjoying the scenery, the lake and in the summer the shaded areas.Good mix of of people using it, also makes for good people watching, while you are sweating and burning off the calories.
We enjoy taking the kiddos to this park. They have a play area, but our kids love to run around in the grass or take a walk around the lake. It's beautiful and a nice walk! FYI - We have on occasion seen some copperheads in the water while feeding the fish...
The paved trails wander through woods and fields for a cool summer walk. There are shorter and longer routes you can take depending on how far you want to walk. The lake is beautiful with ducks and geese for the kids to feed. There are several large fields for kids to play as well as a nice playground. You will almost always find photographers taking portrait pictures there because of the scenic background.
A picnic for the moms led us to this prize gem. I can honestly say, this is the best city park we have visited. It's conveniently located on a main drive and very refreshing. There are a few picnic tables about and benches also.Miles of paved and unpaved trails around a pretty lake and in the woods.A playground for the kids and even open fields to lay a blanket or throw a frisbee. Definetly worth a visit.
This park is a great place for small children or adults. The walking trails are fantastic and you can get plenty of exercise with the hills or just stroll and enjoy the scenery. The lake is always clean, has duck and geese that many of the children feed and I've even seen some retrievers chasing balls into the lake and returning. A nice playground for the kids and restrooms close by. Also has special events like camping and kayaking. Parking is a little tough on some evenings or holidays, but seems to change over sufficiently.
This is a great little park to take your family or to exercise. The parking lot is small but it is located next to the playground, bathrooms and walking/running trails. There are big grass areas scattered nearby and a huge lake in the middle. The walking/running trails are marked with distance and depending on how far you wish to walk/run you can take different paths. All of the paths circle and have a view of the lake. It doesn't matter what time of day you go there are many people of all ages walking with their dogs, jogging, or riding their bikes. Many areas of the trail are covered by trees offering shade in the Summer. The playground has equipment for both small and older children. It is not huge, but big enough to wear out the little ones. The lake has ducks that will come up to you if you stand near the edge and they think you have food. There is no fishing or swimming in the lake. The bathrooms are clean and there are water fountains, even one about 6 inches off of the ground for dogs. In October they have a theater group that puts on "Terror in the Park". It is a mild outdoor haunted house that walks you around the trail and tells you scary stories while the narrator is dressed in a costume. My kids of 14 & 16 thought it was boring, but the little ones ages 6 - 10 loved it! Overall, this is a great little park with a lot to offer.
Park surrounds a beautiful lake. Meandering trails on which one may hike, run, bike ride, or simply enjoy the view, lead past streams and small waterfalls. Benches are located all along the trails allowing you to rest up, or reflect. On late Autumn evenings, the park is transformed, becoming populated by zombies and other creatures of the night who host, "Terror on the Trail;" a spooky/fun event sponsored by the Aurora Theater.
